『배비장전』을 활용한 제주목 관아의 문학 관광 콘텐츠 개발 방안

국문 초록

제주도는 명실상부한 국제 관광지이지만 자연 관광 콘텐츠와 비교할 때 역사와 유물을 활용한 인문 관광 콘텐츠의 수는 많지 않다. 제주문학관은 제주의 신화와 전설, 역사와 현실, 생활과 문화를 담은 제주 문학을 전시함으로써 제주의 정체성을 보여주는 관광 콘텐츠로 의미가 있다. 그러나 유일하게 제주를 배경으로 한 고소설 『배비장전』은 제외되어 있다. 『배비장전』이 일반 대중은 물론 공공기관에서도 제주도민들의 삶과 문화를 담은, 제주도를 대표하는 고소설이라는 점을 간과하고 있음을 보여주는 것이다. 이러한 점에서 제주를 배경으로 하는 『배비장전』에 대한 자부심과 관심을 유도하고, 제주목관아의 독창적인 관광 콘텐츠를 개발할 필요가 있다. 본 연구는 제주목관아가 주 무대가 되는 고소설 『배비장전』을 활용한 관광 콘텐츠를 개발함으로써 제주를 대표하는 고소설 『배비장전』에 대한 인식을 확산하고 제주목관아가 가진 역사성과 관광지로서의 중요성을 함양하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 현재 다수의 관아지는 관광지로서의 접근성, 인접성, 독창적인 콘텐츠가 부족하다. 그에 비해 제주목관아는 높은 접근성과 인접성, 관광 인프라를 가지고 있어 『배비장전』의 배경으서 역사적, 문화적 의미를 활용하기에 유리하다. 『배비장전』은 제주 사람들이 주체가 되어 양반 관료를 풍자하는 내용으로, 판소리와 유사한 특징을 가지고 있어 제주목관아와 『배비장전』을 관광 콘텐츠화할 조건을 가지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 첫째, 제주목관아 내의 교방지에 『배비장전』의 전시 공간을 마련할 것을 제안한다. 전시실에는 『배비장전』 이본, 『배비장전』의 주요 내용, 제주와 관련된 『배비장전』 내용 관련 전시물로 구성할 것을 제안한다. 둘째, 『배비장전』 마당극 상설 공연, 셋째, 제주목사 행차 재현을 제안한다. 본 연구에서 제안하는 목관아 활용 방안은 기존 관아 전시물이 디오라마, 마네킹 연출 등 정적인 성격을 탈피한 새로운 관아 전시 가능성 제시함으로써 4차 산업 시대의 기술과 인문학적 콘텐츠가 결합한 전시로 역사 유적의 현재성을 가진다. 무엇보다 제주의 역사와 전통 문화를 습득할 수 있는 관광콘텐츠의 개발로 제주 관광에 대한 이미지 재고와 함께 관광의 지속성과 제주 문화의 특수성에 대한 인식을 함양하는데 일조할 것으로 기대한다.

영문 초록

Jeju Island is an international tourist destination in name and reality, but compared to nature tourism content, the number of humanities tourism content utilizing history and relics is insignificant. The Jeju Literature Museum is meaningful as a tourist content that shows Jeju’s identity by using Jeju literature containing myths and legends, history and reality, life and culture. However,『 Baebijangjeon』, the only classical novel set in Jeju, Jejumok government office, and Jeju, is excluded. In this regard, there is a need to induce pride and interest in『 Baebijangjeon』, which is set in Jeju, and develop original tourism content for Jeju Mokgwana. This study aims to develop tourism content using the classic novel 『Baebijangjeon』, mainly set at Jeju Mokgwana. To this end, we spread awareness of Jeju’s representative novel, Baebijangjeon, and cultivate the history and importance of Jeju Mokgwana as a tourist destination. Currently, most major government offices lack accessibility as tourist destinations, have problems with proximity, and lack original content. In comparison, the Jejumok government office has high accessibility and proximity. And it is advantageous to utilize the historical and cultural significance of the place as the background of the novel『 Baebijangjeon』.『 Baebijangjeon』 is content that satirizes government officials with the people of Jeju as the subject, and by taking advantage of the fact that it has pansori-like characteristics, we can devise a plan to link the Jejumok government office with『 Baebijangjeon』 with tourism. First, it will create a separate exhibition space for works in the Gyobangji area inside the Jeju Mokgwana. In the exhibition room, it is proposed to display the book 『Baebijangjeon』, the main contents of Baebijangjeon, and Jeju-related contents of『 Baebijangjeon』. Second, it is proposed to be a permanent performance of Madanggeuk, a dramatization of『 Baebijangjeon』. Third, it is proposed to reproduce the Jeju Moksa procession. Our proposal highlights the difference between government agencies in other regions through a unique form of tourism content that combines government agencies and literary works. In addition, by utilizing historical relics, it responds to recent changes in tourism behavior of exploring and experiencing cultural relics. Producing and holding local events or festivals, such as Madanggeuk, can revitalize performing arts in the Jeju region and promote the revitalization of related cultural industries and the local economy. Also, it means supporting the economic activities of the local workforce by increasing the number of associated curators and resident personnel at government office exhibition halls.
