국문 초록

본 연구는 기업지배구조보고서 준수 정도와 재고자산 관리 효율성 간의 관계를 분석한다. 구체적으로 2017년부터 자율공시로 시작된 기업지배구조보고서 공시제도와 관련하여, 공시 의무화 이후 기업들의 준수 현황과 재고자산 관리의 변화를 실증적으로 분석한다. 본 연구는 2018년부터 2020년까지 기업지배구조보고서 의무공시를 하는 기업의 데이터를 사용하여 분석을 실시하였으며, 기업지배구조보고서의 핵심지표 준수 정도가 재고자산회전율에 미치는 영향을 검증하였다. 실증분석 결과, 기업지배구조보고서의 핵심지표를 잘 준수하는 기업들이 재고자산 관리에서 높은 효율성을 보였다. 특히, 외국인지분율이 낮은 기업 그룹에서 이러한 관계가 더욱 강하게 나타났다. 이는 효과적인 기업지배구조가 재고자산 관리를 개선하고, 이를 통해 경영진의 기회주의적 행동을 제한하며, 자원 배분의 효율성을 증가시키는 것으로 해석된다. 본 연구는 기업지배구조보고서의 핵심지표 준수가 기업 운영의 중요한 측면인 재고자산 관리에 긍정적인 영향을 미칠 수 있음을 실증적으로 보여주며, 이는 학계뿐만 아니라 기업의 이해관계자 및 규제 감독기관에게 중요한 시사점을 제공한다. 또한, 기업지배구조보고서의 투명성과 핵심지표 준수의 중요성을 강조하며, 지속적인 개선과 모니터링의 필요성을 제시한다.

영문 초록

This study examines the relationship between firm’s compliance levels with key indicators of corporate governance and efficiency in inventory management. It particularly focuses on the corporate governance report disclosure policy that commenced as a voluntary scheme in 2017, empirically analyzing the compliance levels of companies and the subsequent changes in inventory management following the shift to mandatory disclosure. Using data from 2018 to 2020, this study investigates firms obligated to disclose their corporate governance reports. This study specifically scrutinizes the influence of complying with key indicators of corporate governance reports on the inventory turnover rate. The findings reveal that firms adhering closely to the key indicators of the corporate governance report show greater efficiency in managing inventory assets. Notably, this effect is more pronounced in firms with lower foreign ownership rates. This suggests that effective corporate governance leads to improved inventory management, curtails opportunistic behaviors by management, and enhances resource allocation efficiency. This study underscores that firms with high compliance levels with the key indicators of corporate governance reports can positively influence inventory management, a vital component of corporate operations. These insights offer significant implications not only for the academic area but also for stakeholders related to firms and regulators. This study highlights the importance of transparency in corporate governance reporting and adherence to key indicators, advocating for ongoing refinement and vigilant monitoring.
