성소자의 정서적 성숙과 가정

국문 초록

정서적 성숙은 자신의 진실한 정서를 알아채고 그것을 자기 자신과 타인들에게 표현하고 나눌 수 있는 관계하는 능력이라고 교회 문헌은 표현한다. 따라서 사제 양성에서 정서적 성숙은 양성의 4개 차원인 인성적, 지성적, 영성적, 사목적 영역을 형성하는 데 기초가 된다. 관계를 맺고 충동을 조절하는 능력과 관련된 정서적 성숙은 오늘날 도전받는 사제 정체성의 핵심이라고 할 수 있다. 본고는 우선 사제 양성에 관한 교회 문헌이 언급하는 정서적 성숙을 다룬다. 교회가 제시하는 사제 양성의 4개 차원, 즉 인성, 지성, 영성, 사목의 차원은 정서적 성숙의 성숙과 연관성을 지닌다. 그리고 정서조절, 자기규제, 심리사회적 안정성, 심리 성적 통합이라는 4개 요인이 성소자의 정서적 성숙의 주요 요소로 제시된다. 이어서 정서적 성숙의 발달은 가정 안에서 이루어진다는 것을 심리학적인 측면에서 다룬다. 정서발달은 주양육자와의 상호관계 속에서 그 기초가 이루어진다. 생물학적-인지적 정서와 정서조절의 발달은 아이는 주양육자의 달램과 주의전환의 경험을 통해 내적 주의과정을 다룰 수 있게 되며 정서를 환기시키고 조절하는 능력이 발달로 이루어진다. 또한 가정과 정서발달의 상호관계를 설명하는 이론들에는 아기는 주양육자와의 관계를 통해 자신와 타인에 대한 표상을 만든다는 애착 이론과 인간가족을 하나의 정서적 장으로 구성원들이 정서적 자극을 상호적으로 주고받는 복합체라고 제시하는 가족 체계 이론이 있다. 기본적으로 이 두 이론을 근거하여 정서적 성숙을 위해서는 개인에게 안정적 애착형성과 가정의 정서체계로부터 분리-개별화가 필요로 함을 제시한다. 본고는 끝으로 정서적 성숙이 가정에서 시작된다는 이해에서 교회의 가르침은 이 같은 맥락에서 제시하고 있음을 밝힌다. 교황 요한 바오로 2세의 『가정교서』에서 가정에서 아이는 부모의 온정적이고 자율적인 양육태도 속에서 양육되어야 할 필요성을 강조한다는 점과 『사제성소의 선물』에서 성소자가 내적 자유를 가지고 성소의 부르심에 따라야 한다는 점을 강조한다는 점에서 분리-개별화된 정서적으로 성숙한 개인으로서의 양육되어야 한다는 사실을 교회가 요청하고 있음을 고찰한다.

영문 초록

The church documents express affective maturity as the ability to recognize one's authentic emotions and relational capacity to share them with oneself and others. Therefore, affective maturity in priestly formation is a foundation of the four dimensions of priestly formation, namely, the personal, intellectual, spiritual, and pastoral dimensions. Affective maturity related to the ability to form relationships and control impulses can be considered the core of the challenge facing priestly identity today. This article first explores affective maturity mentioned in church documents on priestly formation. The four dimensions of priestly formation proposed by the church, namely, personal, intellectual, spiritual, and pastoral dimensions, are related to affective maturity. Additionally, four factors, namely emotional regulation, self-regulation, psychosocial stability, and psychological and sexual integration, are presented as the primary components of the emotional maturity of seminarians. Next, this article discusses the psychological aspect of emotional development, stating that emotional development occurs within the family. Biological-cognitive emotions and the development of emotional regulation enable a child to handle their internal attention process by experiencing the attentiveness and attention switching of primary caregivers, which helps develop the ability to express and regulate emotions. The theories explaining the relationship between the family and emotional development include Attachment theory, which suggests that a child creates a representation of themselves and others through their relationship with their primary caregivers, and the Family system theory, which suggests that the human family is a complex system of emotional stimulation exchanged between its members. Essentially, according to these two theories, emotional maturity is attained through stable attachment formation and separation-individuation from the emotional complex of the family system. Finally, this article emphasizes that the church's teachings on affective maturity are presented in the context that emotional maturity develops in the family. Familiaris Consortio by Pope John Paul II emphasizes the need for children to be raised in a parenting style providing compassion and autonomy, and Ratio Fundamentalis Institutionis Sacerdotalis emphasizes the need for seminarians to have internal freedom and follow the call of the priesthood as emotionally mature individuals. The church thus requires seminarians to be raised as emotionally mature individuals who have achieved separation-individuation from their family systems.
