평생교육학연구 게재논문의 데이터 시각화 동향 분석

국문 초록

최근 평생교육학 분야에서 연구 분석 결과를 그림 등으로 표현하는 데이터 시각화를 활용하는 연구물이 증가하고 있다. 하지만 데이터 시각화의 적절한 방법이나 문제점 등을 평생교육연구와 관련하여 논의하는 연구는 발견되지 않고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 「평생교육학연구」게재논문의 데이터 시각화 동향을 실증적으로 분석하는 것을 연구목적으로 하였다. 구체적인 연구문제는 데이터 시각화의 규모와 데이터 시각화의 유형에 대한 것이었다. 연구목적을 달성하기 위해 관련 선행연구를 분석하여 데이터 시각화 동향을 분석하기 위한 분석틀을 구성하였다. 그리고 2002년부터「평생교육학연구」에 게재된 596편의 논문을 수집·분석하였다. 분석결과를 연구문제에 따라 정리하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 분석대상 논문에서 표 활용 빈도가 그림 활용 빈도보다 높았다. 그러나 게재년도를 고려할 경우 최근으로 올수록 그림을 활용하는 데이터 시각화 수준이 통계적으로 유의하게 증가하였다. 둘째, 데이터 시각화 유형을 분석한 결과, 양적 연구에서는 고급 통계 분석결과를 활용하는 시각화 유형2의 비율, 질적 연구에서는 복잡한 현상의 구조를 보여주는 구조관계모형의 비율이 다른 유형에 비해 월등하게 높았다. 이상의 분석결과를 토대로 논의와 시사점을 제공하였다.

영문 초록

Recently, there has been an increase in the use of data visualization, including graphics, in academic journals in the field of lifelong education. However, in Korea, it is hard to find studies or discussions on data visualization . The purpose of this study was to investigate the data visualization research trends in articles published in 「The Journal of Lifelong Education」. Regarding the research purpose, Research Problem 1 addressed the scales (frequency and level) of data visualization in the articles, while Research Problem 2 focused on the types of data visualization used in these articles. Coding frameworks were constructed for the research problems based on reviews of previous studies. A total of 596 articles published in 「The Journal of Lifelong Education」from 2002 to 2023 were then collected and analyzed using the coding frameworks. The results were as follows: First, tables were more common than graphics. However, there has been an increase in both the frequency and level (FGA) of data visualization in recent years. Second, the analysis of data visualization types revealed that type 2 (data visualization using advanced statistics) was the most frequent (and had the highest percentage) in quantitative studies, while graphic representations of structural relationships were the most common in qualitative studies. Drawing upon these results, conclusions were formulated and implications were identified.
