국문 초록

북한 역사 교과서의 해방 3년사 서술의 기본 골격은 1960년대 말~1980년대 초에 만들어졌다. 그것은 김일성 중심의 항일무장투쟁의 역사를 강조하고 그 연장선상에서 일제로부터 조선을 해방한 조선인민혁명군과 남한을 강점한 미제국주의의 대립 구도로 현대사를 설명하는 방식이었다. 1982년 『조선전사』의 완간은 북한이 ‘우리식 사회주의’의 역사를 자기 정리한 후, 내외에 공식적으로 선포한 결과물이었다. 그런 의미에서 주체사상을 방법론으로 한 역사 재정리 사업과 유일사상 체제 강화 과정은 ‘약소국형 사회주의’ 국가 북한이 선택한 혁명 계승의 길이자, 조용한 문화혁명의 길, ‘우리식 사회주의’ 구축의 길이었다. 북한의 해방 3년사 서술은 해방의 주체를 소련에서 조선인민혁명군으로 전환하고, 북한을 미제에 강점된 남한에 대응하는 민주기지로 강조하며, 남북협상의 결과 수립된 ‘전 조선정부’로서 조선민주주의인민공화국의 정당성을 강조한다는 특징을 가지고 있다. 하지만 해방의 불완전성, 통일국가 수립을 위한 각 정치세력의 노력과 한계를 역사주의적으로 면밀히 검토할 때 해방 3년사를 냉정하게 검토할 수 있는 길이 열릴 것이다. 냉전적 사고에서 벗어나 역사주의를 복원하기 위해서는 무엇보다 남북관계 및 북미관계의 전향적인 변화와 남북 역사학계의 교류가 필요하다.

영문 초록

The basic framework of North Korea's perception and narrative of modern history was established towards the end of 1960-1980s. In 1982, the publishing of Joseonjeonsa was the outcome of North Korea's self-organization of the history of “Our-Style Socialism” and its official proclamation to the international community. In that sense, the process of rewriting history and strengthening the monolithic system using Juche was the path of revolutionary succession chosen by the “weak socialist” state of North Korea, the path resembling a subdued Cultural Revolution and the roadmap for building “Our Style Socialism”. The three-year narrative of liberation in North Korea is characterized by shifting the focus of liberation from the Soviet Union to the Korean People's Revolutionary Army, emphasizes the North Korean democratic base as a countermeasure to the U.S.-backed South and underscores the legitimacy of the DPRK which was established as the government of the entire Korean peninsula following inter-Korean negotiations. However, a detailed historicist examination of the incompleteness of the liberation, the efforts and limitations of the political forces to establish a unified state will pave the way for an even-handed examination of the immediate post-liberation period. Improving inter-Korean and US-DPRK relations as well as promoting exchange between North and South Korean historians will be important for restoring historicism in the post-Cold War era.
