국문 초록

1949년 중화인민공화국 건국과 함께 마오둔은 당외 민주인사로서 새로운 문화체제 건설에 참여하였다. 이때 그는 마오쩌둥의 문예노선이나 후펑 이론에 대한 비판과 같은 중국공산당이 부여한 문학의 방향성을 수용하였다. 그러나 이 과정에서 마오둔이 단순히 수동적으로 중국공산당이 만든 외재적인 틀을 수용하기만 한 것은 아니었다. 마오둔은 중국공산당의 조직 논리를 수용하면서도 동시에 중일전쟁 시기 각지를 이동하며 실천한 문학 경험을 바탕으로 자신의 논리를 발전시켜 나갔다. 즉 홍콩과 신장, 옌안에서 교육자, 편집자, 문학가로서 진행하였던 신문학 보급과 맑스주의 이론의 학습, 문학 대중화의 실천 등의 경험들이다. 마오둔이라는 사례는 신중국 시기 지식인에게 중국공산당이 정한 방향을 향해 개조하면서도 자신의 이념을 견지하는 두 가지 측면이 복잡하게 얽혀 있었음을 보여준다.

영문 초록

With the establishment of the People's Republic of China in 1949, Mao Dun played a pivotal role in the construction of the new cultural system as a prominent democratic figure who operated outside the party. During this period, he embraced the literary guidance provided by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), which included following Mao Zedong's literary line and critiquing Hu Peng's theories. However, it's crutial to emphasize that Mao Dun's engagement in this process was far from merely passive acceptance of the CCP's external framework. While he did align with the organizational principles of the CCP, he also continued to develop his own logic based on his literary experiences of his travels during the Sino-Japanese War: as an educator, editor, and writer, Mao Dun's journey encompassed the dissemination of New Literature, the study of Marxist theory, and the practice of literary popularization in diverse regions, including Hong Kong, Xinjiang, and Yan'an. Mao Dun's case serves as a compelling example of the intricate nature of intellectuals in the New China era: they navigated the balance between accepting the CCP's directives and adhering to their individual ideologies.
