국문 초록

본 글은 정광수 창 <수궁가> 중 중중모리장단 대목을 중심으로 사설 내용에 내재되어 있는 정서적 다양성을 살펴, 음악요소들과 어떠한 영향 관계 속에서 결합하여 활용양상이 드러나는지 각 대목마다 유형화하여 고찰하였다. 이를 통해 도출된 결론을 정리하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 정광수는 상황이 극적인 사설의 내용이 아닌 대목들은 속도가 중(中)에 해당하는 중간 속도로 편안하게 진행하였다. 그러나 만(慢)이나 삭(數)에 해당하는 대목에서는 지나치게 슬프거나 혹은 신나는 양쪽의 극단적인 대비 상황에 따라 속도를 의도적으로 변별성을 두고 운용하고 있음을 확인 할 수 있다. 둘째, 가사붙임새는 4가지 유형 중 D형인 ‘(3+3)+(2+2+2)’ 구조가 전체의 36%로 가장 많이 활용되며, 이어서 ‘A > C > B’ 순으로 적절하게 대목마다 운용하고 있음을 확인하였다. 특히 엇붙임의 활용 빈도수는 상대적으로 속도가 빠르거나 느린 대목에서 적극 운용하는 양상이 나타났다. 셋째, 종지형에 비해 내드름형에서 다양한 유형의 리듬구조를 사용하였다. 이는 첫머리를 시작하는 부분은 전체 악곡의 분위기를 결정 짓기 때문에 사설 내용에 따라 다양한 리듬구조의 유형을 운용하는 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 단순한 계면조의 선율로만 진행할 경우 단조로움을 피하기 위하여 일시적변청을 주기적으로 활용하였다. 반면 출현음이 많거나 선율진행이 화려한 대목에서는 일시적변청을 자제하여 운용하였다. 또한 변조를 하는 대목에서는 동물들의 대사부분의 문답형식이나, 등장인물의 전환, 장소의 변화 등에서 이면에 맞게 의도적으로 악조를 변화시키는 양상이 나타났다. 이상에서 음악 요소별 특징들을 종합해보면, 정광수는 중중모리장단 대목 사설의 내용은 극단적으로 대비되는 다양한 장면에서 활용하고 있었다. 대비되는 다양한 장면을 효과적으로 전달시키기 위해 정광수는 음악적 표현요소인 ‘속도(만·중·삭)’를 활용하여 음악적 풍부함을 구현하였다. 아울러 ‘화려한 선율진행’, ‘일시적변청’, ‘주서붙임’, ‘변조’ 등 적절한 음악적 요소를 통해 균형감 있게 대목 안에 녹여 내고 있음을 확인할 수 있었다.

영문 초록

This paper examines the emotional diversity found in the context of text(description) centering on Jungjungmori rhythm in Gwangsu-Jeong’s in order to study how it forms collaborative relationship with musical elements by each part. The main findings of this study are as below. First, Jeong applied Joong(中), which is a moderate speed, at parts where text do not progress dramatically. On the other hand, it is found that in parts where either deeply tragic or exciting situation takes place, Man(慢) or Sak(數) is intentionally applied with variations. Second, in terms of Buchimsae (setting lyrics with melodies), type D, of which the structure is ‘(3+3)+(2+2+2)’, was used most frequently among four types, about 36 percent specifically. Next to type D, type A, C and B were utilized in the order of frequency where appropriate. Particularly, Eotbuchim was used commonly at parts where the speed is either relatively fast or slow. Third, there was a higher diversity in the use of rhythmic structure in Naedeureum (the first rhythm of the piece) compared to Jongji (the last rhythm of the piece). It is found that as the first starting part determines the atmosphere of the whole piece, more various types of rhythmic structures are used in Naedeureum according to the contents of text. Fourth, when a simple Kyemyeonjo melody with pure musical mode progresses, temporary transpositions are applied periodically to avoid monotony. On the other hand, in parts where there are many appearing notes or where melody is sophisticated, temporary transpositions were less used. Also, it is found that modulations in tones are applied deliberately in parts where questioning and answering by animals or changes in characters or locations occur. To summarize the features of musical elements mentioned above, Jeong used Jungjungmori rhythm in situations that are extremely contrasting to each other. In order to deliver those different scenes effectively, Jeong realized the musical richness by utilizing musical elements of speed, such as Man, Joong and Sak. Furthermore, it is found that various musical elements, including ‘sophisticated melody’, ‘temporary transpositions’, ‘Juseo-butchim’, and ‘modulations’, were appropriately used so that they can be harmonized into the piece in a balanced way.
