영문 초록

This study explored successful aging experienced through Taekwondo as serious leisure in seniors. This study employed phenomenological design in which semi-structured interviews were used. The participants -were recruited from a local senior center in midwestern part of Korea using purposive sampling. Regarding the Taekwondo experiences of the participants, five main themes were emerged: continuous effort by developing a mind body connection, increasing status and abilities, enhancing pride and recognition, team practice and culture, and Taekwondo as a part of life. The findings of this study suggest that Taekwondo is a promising leisure activity for older adults which has a positive impact on daily life of older adults.
