영문 초록

Among the numerous “knowledge-based” industries, the education industry is highly profitable, thus there is high competition among countries to attract international students into their schools. The Canadian education industry is seen to be one of the most successful cases in the globalized education market. Canada has witnessed a steady increase in the number of international students being educated in Canada in the past 10 years, especially students from the Asian region. International students to Canada have a significant economic impact upon, not only the educational institutions that they attend, but also the local economies. In addition, the people to people contact (resulting in significant cultural exchanges) has a high potential for further economic and political gains in the future. This paper examines the perspectives of the economic and social impact of international students upon the Korean education industry.
