국문 초록

자연 촌락에서 시작된 도시는 기술의 진보에 따라 산업도시로, 첨단 과학문명도시로, AI(artificial intelligence)가 지배하는 스마트시티(smart city)로 진화하고 있다. 특히 과학기술의 발달은 도시를 첨단 과학기술문명의 실험장으로 만들었다. 이 과정에서 많은 도시들이 시대적 변화에 적응하지 못하고 도시정체 내지는 도시침체 현상을 경험하면서 18세기 산업화에성공한 유럽의 도시들은 2차 산업의 쇠퇴로 인한 도시침체를 극복하기 위한방안으로 제시 문화적 도시재생이 제시되었다. 문화적 도시재생으로 지역을 활성화하고 도시경쟁력을 높이는데중요한 요인이 된 것은 경제구조의 변화에 따른 것이다. 후기산업 사회에서 문화의 중요성이강조되면서 문화관광이 도시관광의 중요한 트렌드로 자리 잡았기 때문이다. 오늘날까지도 도시경쟁력 향상에 자본과 방문객의 유입이 중요하다는 점에서 문화를 통한 도시재생의 중요성은 더욱 부각되고 있다. 이는 집단 기억과 시민의 정신을 연결해 주는 문화유산의 장소성이중요한 역할을 한다. 이러한 점 때문에 도시는 문화유산을 중요한 관광 요소로 보고 도시재생에서 문화적 의미를 부각하게 된다. 문화관광이 단순한 시각적 소비에 그치지 않고 역사적 장소의 매력에 빠지는 이유가 여기에 있다. 세계적 문화유산이 부족한 신생 도시들은 일종의 기함프로젝트(flagship projects)를 통한 지역 활성화로 도시를 관광의 매력 포인트를 만들기도한다. 특히, 문화적 도시재생 중 공공미술을 활용하여 지역 활성화를 추구하는 사례가 많은데광주폴리와 나오시마의 미술관이 그 중 하나의 사례라 할 수 있다.

영문 초록

The city, which started as a natural village, is evolving into an industrial city, a cutting-edge scientific civilization city, and a smart city dominated by AI (artificial intelligence) according to technological progress. In particular, the development of science and technology has made the city a testing ground for cutting-edge science and technology civilization. In this process, many cities failed to adapt to the changes of the times and experienced urban stagnation or urban stagnation. European cities that succeeded in industrialization in the 18th century suggested cultural urban regeneration as a way to overcome urban stagnation caused by the decline of the secondary industry. presented It is the change in the economic structure that has become an important factor in revitalizing regions and enhancing urban competitiveness through cultural urban regeneration. This is because cultural tourism has become an important trend in urban tourism as the importance of culture has been emphasized in post-industrial society. Even today, the importance of urban regeneration through culture is being highlighted in that the influx of capital and visitors is important to improve urban competitiveness. The placeness of cultural heritage plays an important role in linking collective memory with the spirit of citizens. Because of this, the city sees cultural heritage as an important tourism factor and emphasizes its cultural meaning in urban regeneration. This is the reason why cultural tourism does not stop at simple visual consumption but falls in love with historical places. New cities lacking world-class cultural heritage make the city an attractive point for tourism by revitalizing the region through a kind of flagship project. In particular, there are many cases in which public art is used to revitalize the region during cultural urban regeneration, and Gwangju Folly and the Naoshima Art Museum are examples of such cases.
