국문 초록

목 적 : 본 연구는 정신건강에 대한 일반인의 정신건강문제에 대한 인식 및 전문적 도움추구 태도와 관련된 요인을 탐색하고자 실시하였다. 방 법 : 2021년 9월 2일부터 10월 14일까지 대한민국 국민 1,501명을 대상으로 구조화된 설문지를 사용하여 정신건강에 대한 인식과 정신건강 문제와 관련된 전문적 도움추구 태도에 대한 설문을 실시하였다. 빈도분석, 상관분석, 다중회귀분석을 실시하여 연구변인들간의 상관관계 및 전문적 도움추구 태도에 영향을 미치는 요인을 분석하였다. 결 과 : 응답자의 61.1%가 우리 삶에 있어 정신건강이 ‘매우 중요하다’고 응답했으나, 정신건강 문제를 겪을 경우 의료서비스를 이용할 의향이 ‘많이 있다’는 응답자는 10.8%에 지나지 않았다. 여성, 대학이상의 학력, 읍/면 지역거주, 정신건강에 대한 중요성을 인식하고 본인의 정신건강에 신경쓰는 정도는 전문적 도움추구 태도에 유의한 영향을 미치는 요인으로 나타났다. 결 론 : 일반인들은 정신건강의 중요성에 대해 인식하고 있으나 정신건강 문제를 겪을 경우 의료서비스 이용 의향은 높지 않았다. 정신건강에 대한 인식이 전문적 도움추구 태도에 유의한 영향을 미치므로, 일반인을 대상으로 한 정신건강 인식개선이 필요하다.

영문 초록

This study investigated the general public’s perception of mental health problems and factors related to help-seeking attitudes. Methods : A survey using a structured questionnaire was conducted with the general public (n=1,501) from September 2 to October 14, 2021. The survey comprised questionnaires regarding perception of mental health problems and attitude towards help-seeking for mental health problems. Frequency analysis, correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis were performed. Results : Of the participants, 61.1% responded that mental health is very important in their lives; however, only 10.8% responded that they would be willing to use medical services if they had mental health problems. Factors associated with help-seeking attitude for mental health problem were being female, residing in a rural area, education level higher than undergraduate, and acknowledging the importance of mental health and taking care of one’s mental health. Conclusion : The general public perceived mental health as important; however, the willingness to use medial services for mental health problems was low. Since the perception of mental health problems has a significant effect on professional helpseeking attitudes, it is necessary to improve the general public's attitude toward mental health.
