국문 초록

이 소논문에서 필자는 여성신학적 해석학의 영역에서 독보적인 두 신약성서 학자 쉬슬러 피오렌자(Elisabeth Schüssler Fiorenza)와 와이어(Antoinette Clark Wire)를 거론하고자 한다. 필자는 그들의 방법론과 신학을 검토함으로써 그들의 해석학이 성서의 여성신학적 해석을 발전시키는 데 어떻게 작동하는가를 파악하고자 한다. 쉬슬러 피오렌자는 『크리스천 기원의 여성신학적 기원』을 출간하여많은 각광을 받았다. 이 책에서 그는 적지 않은 여성신학자들이 성서를 여성 해방을 위한 자료로 정당화시키기 위해 노력했음에도 성서는 남성 중심적 문서이며, 초대교회 여성들의 역사를 복구하기 위해 성서를 좀 더 주도면밀하게 분석해야 한다고 멀한다. 피오렌자는 방법론의 측면에서 가치 중립을 주장하는 역사 비평을 비판하며 그보다는 해방신학의 관점을 수용하는 것이 더 적절하다고 주장한다. 그는 성서의 세계라는 콘텍스트를 참고하며 신약성서에서 불가시적인 여성들의 이야기들을 재구성하는 방법론을 발전시킨다. 다른 한편 와이어는 고린도교회의 여 예언자들의 신학과 활동을 재구성하는 저서를 출간했다. 그는 이 책에서 피오렌자가 구축한 방법론을 이용하여 고린도전서에 나타나는 여 예언자들의 세계 재구성을 시도한다. 그는 주변으로 밀려나 있던 고린도의 여성들을 텍스트의 중심으로 삼으며 그들의 활동상을 묘사한다. 이 두 여성신학자들은 1세기 교회 여성들의 삶을 재구성하는 작업을 통해서 다른 여성신학자들에게 영감을 주고, 나아갈 용기를 가지도록 도움을 주었다고 평가될 수 있다.

영문 초록

In this study I focus on two New Testament scholars, who are prominent in the area of the feminist theological hermeneutics. One of them is Elisabeth Schüssler Fiorenza, and the other is Antoinette Clark Wire. I will review their methodologies and theologies in order to look at how their hermeneutics operates in developing the feminist interpretation of the scriptures. Schüssler Fiorenza published the epoch-making book, In Memory of Her: A Feminist Theological Reconstruction of Christian Origins in 1983. In this book, she points out that the Bible is an androcentric document as a product of the patriarchal society in spite of several feminist theologians’ effort to legitimate it as a book of equality, and we need to look carefully into it to restore the women’s history in the early Christianity. In terms of methodology, she claims to employs the perspective of liberation theology, criticizing the allegedly value-neutral historical criticism. She establishes the methodology of feminist-theological hermeneutics that makes it possible to reconstruct the stories of women who are invisible in the New Testament with the help of the examination of the context of the biblical world. Regarding Wire, She published a book, The Corinthian Women Prophets: A Reconstruction through Paul’s Rhetoric, in which she applied the hermeneutical methodology, offered by Schüssler Fiorenza, in order to reconstruct the world of women prophets by interpreting 1 Corinthians. Wire persuasively depicts their feature by putting them at the center of reading the text of 1 Corinthians. Two scholars significantly contributed to the reconstruction of the first century women’s stories in Christianity and set up the tenet that will inspire many feminist theologians in future.
