국문 초록

본 연구는 지각된 노인 낙인과 우울의 관계에서 사회적 고립의 매개효과를 검증하고 성별 간 비교를 통해 노인 우울을 완화하는 방안을 모색하고자 하는 목적을 지닌다. 이를 위하여 2018년에 실시된 ‘연령통합 및 세대통합 조사’데이터를 활용하였으며, 분석은 만 65세 이상 노인 600명을 대상으로 이루어졌다. SPSS 23.0과 AMOS 23.0 프로그램을 사용하여 구조방정식 모형을 검증하고 다집단분석을 실시하였다. 분석결과 첫째, 지각된 노인 낙인은 우울에 직접적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 지각된 노인 낙인과 우울의 관계에서 사회적 고립의 매개효과를 확인하였다. 셋째, 남녀집단 간 유의미한 통계적 차이는 없는 것으로 나타났으나 각 집단 간 매개효과는 차이가 있었다. 본 연구결과를 바탕으로 노인의 우울에 영향을 미치는 노인 낙인과 사회적 고립에 대한 개입의 필요성, 연구의 한계 그리고 향후 연구에 대한 제언을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this research is to verify the mediating effect of social isolation within the process of perceived elderly stigma affecting depression and to examine gender differences. Based on the results, this study aimed to find ways to alleviate elderly depression. This study drew upon the data from the ‘Age Integration and Generation Integration Survey’conducted in 2018, analyzing 600 elderly people above the age of 65. Structural equation modeling and multi-group analysis were conducted to examine the research model using SPSS 23.0 and AMOS 23.0 programs. The results of this study are as follows. First, perceived elderly stigma has a direct effect on depression. Second, social isolation has a mediating effect on the association between perceived elderly stigma and depression. Third, there was no statistically significant difference between male and female groups. However, there were differences in the mediating effect between two groups. Based on the results of the study, we suggest the need for intervention to reduce elderly stigma and social isolation which both affect depression. We also discussed the limitation of the research and the suggestions for the future research.
