구슬 떨어뜨리기 시뮬레이션에서 초등학교 5학년 학생들의 가능성 추론 분석

국문 초록

본 연구는 초등학생들에게 빈도적 관점에서의 가능성을 지도하기 위한 교수학적 시사점을 마련하기 위한것이다. 2015 개정 교육과정에 따라 가능성을 학습하고 있는 초등학교 5학년 학생들에게 등확률인 상황(과제1)과등확률이 아닌 상황(과제2)에서의 구슬 떨어뜨리기 시뮬레이션 과제를 제시하였고, 이로부터 학생들의 가능성 추론을 분석하였다. 학생들은 물리적 특성에 근거한 가능성에 대한 사전 인식을 갖고 있었고, 시뮬레이션 결과에기반하여 가능성을 판단하는 상황에서 제시된 자룟값에 의해 발생한 우연적 맥락에 많은 영향을 받았다. 또한큰 수의 법칙의 직관과 관련하여 시행횟수가 큰 시뮬레이션일수록 신뢰도가 높아진다는 직관을 갖고 있지만, 시뮬레이션에서 큰 시행횟수가 어떤 역할을 하는지는 알지 못했다. 이러한 결과에 근거하여 우연 상황의 맥락을탐구하는 의미로 가능성 실험에 앞서 가능성을 판단하거나 실험 결과를 예측해보게 하는 활동의 필요성을 제안한다. 또한 변이성에 대한 이해와 시행횟수의 크기 및 그 의미에 대한 이해를 지도할 필요성을 제안한다. 마지막으로 초등학생들에게 큰 수의 법칙의 직관적 개념을 지도하는 수업 설계에 대한 구체적 방안을 제안한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to provide didactical implications to teach elementary school students the chance from a frequency perspective. We adjusted the simulation of dropping beads in equal probability(task 1) and non-equal probability(task 2) to 5th grade students who are learning the chance in the 2015 revised curriculum, and from this, we analyzed students’ reasoning of chance. The students had a prior perception of the chance based on the physical characteristics. Their inference of the chance based on the simulation results was greatly influenced by the accidental context caused by data values. Also, regarding the institution of law of large numbers, they had the intuition that the larger the number of trials, the higher the reliability but they didn’t know what role the large number of trials played in the simulation. Based on these results, we suggest the necessity of activities -that is to judge the chance or to predict the results of the experiment prior to the chance experiment with the meaning of exploring the context by chance. In addition, we suggest the need for instructing on understanding the variability and the size with the meaning of the number of trials. Finally, we suggest how to design a lesson for teaching elementary school students the intuitive concept of the law of large numbers.
