정보과다 문제와 정보부족 문제에 대한 초등학교 6학년의 문제 해결 분석

국문 초록

본 연구는 해를 일의적으로 결정하는 최소 정보가 주어지는 일반적인 문제가 아닌 여분의 또는 부족한 정보가 있는 정보과다 문제와 정보부족 문제에 대한 학생들의 해법을 분석함으로써 이러한 문제를 활용한 수학 수업을 설계하기 위한 시사점을 도출하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해 정보과다 문제와 정보부족 문제를 각각 2개씩 개발하고, 서울 H초등학교 6학년 학생 23명을 대상으로 적용하여 결과를 분석하였다. 적용 결과, 학생들이 자신의 경험에 의존하여 주어진 정보를 선별하고 필요한 정보를 추가로 설정한다는 것을 확인할 수 있었으며, 유사한 문제의 해결 경험, 제시된 문제의 길이 및 소재가 학생들의 문제 해결 과정에 영향을 미치는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 이로부터 학교수학에서 정보과다 문제와 정보부족 문제 지도를 위한 몇 가지 교수학적 시사점을 도출하였다.

영문 초록

This study was intended to derive some implications for designing math classes utilizing extra information and missing information word problems by analyzing students' problem solving processes of these kinds of problems. For the study, we developed two extra information word problems and two missing information word problems, and applied the problems to 23 sixth graders to analyze their problem solving. The results of analysis showed that students relied on their own experience to screen out given information and suppose additional information needed, and that the length and material of the problems had an impact on the problem solving. The results implies that there is a need to deal with various problems in a class with students, that in problem development the context and material of the problem should be determined in consideration of the students' interest, that the problem should be presented with the appropriate length of the problem.
