코로나19 팬데믹 기간 교장의 성별에 따른 교사의 인식과 학생의 학업성취의 차이: 중학교를 중심으로

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 코로나19 팬데믹 상황에서 교장의 성별에 따라 중학교 교사의 학교장 리더십인식과 중학생이 학업성취에 유의미한 차이가 있는지를 규명하는데 있다. 이러한 목적을 달성하기위해 2018~2020년도 국가수준 학업성취도평가에 참여한 중학교 237개교의 남녀 학생 10,653명의 국어, 수학, 영어 성적 합계평균을 분석했다. 학교장의 성별은 남성 148명, 여성 64명이었고, 학교장 관련 독립변수는 성별, 전문직 경력 등이다. 위계선형모형에서는 학생수준 변수, 학교환경관련 변수, 교사관련 변수의 영향력을 통제한 상태에서 학교장 관련 변수를 학교수준모형에 독립변수로 투입한 결과 학교장 성별에 따라 중학생의 학업성취도에 유의미하게 차이가 있었다. 이어서 학교장의 성별이 교사의 인식과 학업성취도에 끼치는 구조관계를 규명하기 위해서 학교장 성별을 외생독립변수, 교사의 학교장 리더십인식, 교직풍토, 원격수업준비도를 매개변수, 학업성취도를 내생종속변수로 하는 구조방정식모형 분석 결과 학교장의 성별은 교사의 학교장 리더십 인식, 교직풍토, 원격수업준비도, 학업성취도 등에 유의미하게 긍정적인 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of female principal’s leadership on middle school students’ academic achievement in the COVID-19 pandemic situation, and to find out whether there is a significant difference between middle school teachers’ teaching activities and middle school students’ academic achievement depending on the principal’s gender. To achieve this purpose, the total average of Korean, math, and English grades of 10,653 male and female students in middle school who participated in the national level academic achievement evaluation from 2018 to 2020 was analyzed. The principal’s gender was 148 men and 64 women, and the independent variables related to the principal were gender and professional experience. In the hierarchical linear model, the principal-related variable was input as an independent variable in the school-level model while controlling the influence of student-level variables, school environment-related variables, and teacher-related variables. In order to find out the structural relationship of principal’s gender on teacher perception and academic achievement, the structural equation analysis showed that principal’s gender has a significant positive effect on teacher’s leadership recognition, teaching climate, and academic achievement.
