시각적 산술과제와 함수과제에서 나타난 중학생들의 수학불안집단과 수학성취도집단의 정답률과 반응시간

국문 초록

여러 선행연구에서 수학성취에 부정적인 요인으로 수학불안을 꼽았다. 본 연구는 여러 선행연구에서 정답률과 반응시간을 통해 과제별 특성을 파악하는 점에 비추어 경기도 소재 A 중학교 3학년 1학급인 25명을 대상으로 불안집단과 성취집단별로 산술과제와 함수과제 두 과제간의 차이점에 대한 유의수준을 조사하였다. 이를 위해 각각 100문항씩 시각적 산술과제와 함수과제를 구성하였고 임의로 제공되는 각 20문항에 대한 정답률과 반응시간을 E-prime에 의해 측정하였다. 연구결과로는 두 집단 모두는 함수과제에서 산술과제보다 정답률이 유의하게 더 낮았으며 더 오랜 시간을 소요하였다. 이는 산술과제에서 함수과제로 이행에는 특별한 교수학적 배려가 필요하다는 것을 의미한다. 또한 이러한 차이가 수학불안이 높은 집단과 성취도가 낮은 집단과 관련성이 크고, 수학불안이 낮은 집단과 성취도가 높은 집단과 관련성이 크다는 양상을 보임으로써 선행연구들의 결과와 일치하였다.

영문 초록

In the previous research, students with high math anxiety(MA) were found to differ from their lower math anxiety peers on mathematical achievement. This study examines differences between the MA groups and between the achievement groups in the visual tasks of arithmetic and function areas where students solved with 20 items selected arbitrary out of 100 items, respectively. E-prime in the tasks measured correction rates and reaction times of 25 students from the 9th grade of one middle school in Gyeonggi province. Both MA groups and achievement groups significantly scored better on arithmetic tasks than function tasks and significantly took more time on function tasks than arithmetic tasks. This result implies that teachers should pay attention to their pedagogical approach in the process of teaching about these two adjacent areas of mathematics since the function is very different from the arithmetic. Also, the evidence that affective domain with MA related negatively with the cognitive domain with achievement was consistent with the previous studies.
