현실과 가상의 경계에 관한 신실재론적 고찰

국문 초록

이 논문은 현실과 가상, 참과 거짓 사이의 무차별적 경계 허물기 현상을 위기로 규정하고 그 실체를 탐색하는 것을 하나의 목표로 한다. 이 위기를 적나라하게 드러내는 것은 최근에 우리가 목격하고 있는 탈진실 혹은 탈사실 현상이다. 현재 서구 중심의 자본주의 사회가 가치의 위기, 민주주의의 위기, 자본주의의 위기, 테크놀로지의 위기에 직면해 있으며, 이런 위기들을 한마디로 집약하면 표상의 위기라고 주장한 현대 독일철학자 마르쿠스 가브리엘의 신실재론이 이 논문의 토대이다. 가브리엘은 이런 위기의 근원적인 뿌리로 포스트모더니즘과 과학중심의 자연주의의 지배라고 지적한다. 이 논문에서 나는 포스트모더니즘과 자연주의가 어떻게 오늘날의 위기, 탈사실로 대표되는 무차별적 경계 허물기를 불러왔는지 살펴볼 것이다. 그리고 이 위기를 극복하기 위해 철학의 개혁이 필요함을 주장할 것인데, 이 논문에서 제안하는 새로운 철학은 가브리엘의 신실재론이다. 이 논문의 또 하나의 목표는 신실재론의 기본적 주장과 철학적 가정을 소개하는 것이다.

영문 초록

This paper aims to define the phenomenon of indiscriminately breaking down the boundary between reality and virtuality, truth and falsehood as a crisis, and to explore its essence. The post-truth or post-fact is a phenomenon that exposes this crisis. We are witnessing the phenomenon recently. This paper is based on the modern German philosopher Marcus Gabriel's New Realism, who argued that the Western-centered capitalist society is currently facing a crisis of values, a crisis of democracy, a crisis of capitalism, and a crisis of technology, and these crises can be summarized as a crisis of representation. Gabriel points out that the fundamental root of this crisis is postmodernism and the domination of science-centered naturalism. In this paper, I will examine how postmodernism and naturalism have brought about today's crisis and indiscriminate breaking of boundaries represented by post-fact. And I will argue that philosophical reform is necessary to overcome this crisis. The new philosophy proposed in this paper is Gabriel's New Realism. Another goal of this paper is to introduce the basic arguments and philosophical assumptions of New Realism.
