국문 초록

백성욱 박사의 [대입소(大入小)의 일리(一理)]라는 글은 우주와 인생에 관한 석가모니 부처님의 설법을 오늘날의 과학적 발견과 우주관으로 해석한 글이다. 원효 대사가 대승기신론의 일심이라는 개념으로 당시 불교의 다양한 관점들을 학술적으로 명석하게 해설했다면 백성욱 박사는 대입소의 일리라는 부처님의 설법을 현대과학으로 구축된 우주관과 연결하여 해석하였다. 그는 거시적 세계인 우주와 미시적 세계인 원자가 어떻게 일리 즉 하나의 같은 원리로 조직되고 운영되는가를 분석하였다. 우주나 소우주의 어디에서나 기하학적 수학적 공식은 똑같이 적용되고 태양계도 원자도 궤도를 지키면서 자전하고 공전한다. 인간 사회도 정신생활, 법률생활, 경제생활이 각자의 궤도를 지키면서 균형과 조화를 이룰 때 발전한다고 보았다. 그중에서 정신생활은 즉각(卽覺)이 일어날 수 있는 마음공부가 중요한데 마음을 비워서 쉬게 되면 영지(靈智)가 발동하여 우주적 지혜를 얻을 수 있다고 보았다. 경험이 아닌 종합적 즉각에 의해 그것이 가능하며 누구나 일생 생활에서 경험과 개념에서 벗어나면 생활에서 일리를 발견할 수 있다고 보았다. 이를 실생활에 적용함으로써 오탁악세라는 현 세계를 향적(香積) 세계나 연화세계로 변화시켜 나갈 수 있다고 하였다.

영문 초록

Dr. Baek Sung-wook's article, “Both the big and the small are based on one principle” is an article that interprets Buddha Sakyamun's sermon on the universe and life as today's scientific discovery and universe view. If Great master Wonhyo academically summarized various Buddhist perspectives at the time under the concept of one mind of Mahayana Shaddhotpada Sastra (Discourse on the Awakening of Faith in Mahayana), Dr. Baek Sung-wook interpreted the Buddha's preaching of “Both the big and the small are based on one principle“ in connection with the universe built with modern science. He analyzes how the macroscopic world revealed by the development of science, and how the world of atoms and electrons, a microscopic world, are organized and operated in one same principle. The universe, microcosm, or circle is 360 degrees every where, and the solar system or atom rotates and revolves while keeping its orbit. Human society is also considered to develop when mental life, legal life, and economic life are balanced and harmonized while keeping their respective trajectories. Among them, mental life is important to study the mind that can occur immediately, and if you empty your mind and rest, you can activate the spirit and gain cosmic wisdom. It is possible by comprehensive immediate rather than experience, and anyone can find a point in life away from experience and concept in their lifetime. By applying this to real life, it is said that the present world of Five turbid and evil worlds can be transformed into a fragrant and beautiful world.
