국문 초록

본 연구는 한국과 해외의 ‘리얼리티 데이팅 쇼’가 어떤 방식으로 로컬라이징되어 시청자에게 어떤 의미로 수용되는지를 '국가적 섹슈얼리티(national sexuality)'라는 개념을 통해 분석하고자 한다. 이러한 트랜스내셔널리즘(transnationalism)의 맥락은 ‘국가 영토’라는 경계를 넘어서 ‘프로그램 포맷’이라는 대상이 이동할 때 국가 정체성, 경제적 위치, 정치적 인식 등과 같은 각국의 다양한 지점들이 가시화될 수 있게 한다. 서로 다른 국가들 간의 ‘비교’를 넘어서서 그들 사이의 대상이 국경을 횡단하며 주고받는 ‘상호작용’에 집중했을 때 오히려 포함된 각국이 가지는 개별적 특수성이 드러날 수 있는데 본 연구에서는 그 중 특히 국가 자체의 ‘섹슈얼리티’에 집중할 것이다. 나아가 본 연구는 포맷의 수출, 수입전략에 집중하거나 프로그램의 하위장르가 시청자들의 욕망과 결합하는 방식만을 다루는 국내 선행연구들과는 달리 트랜스내셔널리즘의 맥락에서만 포착할 수 있는 ‘국가적 섹슈얼리티’라는 새로운 개념을 제안하며 ‘리얼리티 데이팅 쇼’의 초국가적 횡단이 개별국가의 섹슈얼리티를 설명할 수 있는 가능성을 살펴보고자 한다. 섹슈얼리티에 대한 사회적 가치체계는 프로그램의 포맷에 반영되고 이를 시청자들이 수용하고 인식하는 과정에서 다시 이 가치체계가 재생산되는 ‘순환’의 과정에 있다. 본 연구는 이러한 순환이 초국가적인 맥락으로 확장됐을 때 ‘국가’ 자체의 섹슈얼리티가 국가 간의 상호작용과 포맷의 로컬라이징을 통해 특정한 방식으로 구조화되는 것을 주장한다.

영문 초록

This study analyzes how korean and foreign ‘reality dating show’ could be localized and accepted to viewers through the notion ‘national sexuality’. This transnationality can visualize the various points such as nation identity, economical location, political recognition when an object like ‘program format’ moves crossing the ‘nation’s territory’. As concentrating on the ‘interaction’ that the objects get between different nations rather than mere ‘comparison’ between those, each distinct characteristics could be visible, so that this study can concentrate on especially on the sexuality of nation itself. Furthermore, this study searches for the possibility that transnational traverse of reality dating show could explain sexuality of each nation suggesting that the new notion ‘national sexuality’ which could be captured only in context of transnationalism while the recent researches have been concentrating on ex/import of format or the way that program’s sub-genre combining on viewers’ desire. The social value system is on the process of ‘circulation’ in the way it is reflected on the program format and recognized by viewers. Accordingly, this study suggests when this kind of circulation extends to the context of transnationalism, the sexuality of the nation itself would be structured in the specific way through interactions between nations and localizing of formats.
