국내 자폐스펙트럼장애 아동․청소년의 공존증상과 도전행동의 실태

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 국내 자폐스펙트럼장애(Autism Spectrum Disorder, 이하 ASD) 아동․청소년에게 나타나는 도전행동 및 공존증상의 출현율을 조사하고 변인의 특성에 따른 도전행동 및 공존증상의 차이를 밝히는 것이다. 본 연구의 대상은 국내 초․중․고 특수학급과 특수학교에 재학하는 6~18세의 ASD 아동․청소년 668명이었다. 연구 문제 검증을 위한 통계 방법은 기술통계와 다변량분산분석(MANOVA)을 사용하였다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 연구대상의 약 60%에게 주의력결핍 과잉행동, 불안, 우울 등의 공존증상 중 한 가지가 나타나고 있었다. 또한 연구대상의 약 53%가 한 가지 이상의 수면문제를 나타냈으며 대부분(약 96%)의 연구대상에게서 한 가지 이상의 도전행동이 나타나고 있었다. 둘째, 성별에 따라서는 수면문제와 불안에서만 유의차가 발견되었고, 배치 상태에 따라서는 도전행동과 모든 공존증상에서 특수학교 배치 집단이 유의하게 더 높은 점수를 나타냈다. 연령에 따른 차이는 주의력결핍 과잉행동에서만 유의하였다. 자폐성장애 등급에 따라서는 도전행동과 모든 공존증상에서 유의차가 발견되었다. 본 연구의 결과, 국내 ASD 아동․청소년에게 도전행동과 공존증상이 높은 비율로 나타나는 것으로 밝혀졌으며 이에 대한 중재 및 지원과 관련된 후속 연구가 필요하다.

영문 초록

This Study aimed to investigate the prevalence of challenging behaviors and comorbidities in children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and identify differences in such behaviors and comorbidities according to a variety of sample characteristics (e.g., sex, educational placement, age, and severity of ASD). A total of 668 children with ASD, 6-18 years old and enrolled in special schools and special classes nationwide, were included in this study. Information providers were homeroom teachers who had known the children for at least 6 months. A multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA) was conducted to investigate if there were significant differences between groups classified according to sex, educational placement, age, and ASD severity. The analysis results show that approximately 60% of children had a coexisting comorbidity. Moreover, at least 53% had at least one type of sleep problem, and almost all patients (approximately 96%) displayed at least one challenging behavior. Significant differences in challenging behaviors and comorbidities were found between groups of different sexes, educational placement, age, and ASD severity ratings. Based on the results of this study, the current status of challenging behaviors and comorbidities in Korean children with ASD, the implications of the finding, and the significance and limitations of the study are discussed.
