국문 초록

사생관은 세계관의 일환 중 가장 핵심이 되는 주제로서 한 인물의 활동과 사상의 토대를 이룬다고 할 수 있다. 본 논문은 백산 안희제의 사생관에 관한 연구이다. 백산 안희제는 최후의 그 순간까지도 개인의 안위와 이익보다는 오직 국가와 민족을 위해 온 몸을 헌신한 선각자이다. 이처럼 일생을 일관되게 변치 않는 정신으로 구국활동을 전개할 수 있었던 것은 그의 저변을 형성하고 있는 사생관이 있었기에 가능하였다고 본다. 안희제의 사생관을 살펴보면 첫째, 대의를 위한 사생관이다. 대의란 사람으로서 마땅히 행하거나 지켜야 할 큰 도리를 말하는 것으로 곧 선비의 행동 원리로서 작용한다고 할 수 있다. 둘째, 국가와 민족 중심의 사생관은 국가와 백성과 나를 유기적 관계로 보고 있다. 국가가 망하면 민족과 나는 존재할 수 없다고 생각하는 것이다. 셋째, 이상주의적 사생관은 현실을 딛고 서 있으나 현실에 안주하지 않고 자기 극복으로 이상을 지향한다. 그는 인간의 유한적 존재를 극복하여 ‘참된 나‘의 영원한 길을 제시하고 있다. 이와 같은 사생관이 있었기에 혹독한 세상에서 자신의 신념대로 삶을 영위할 수 있었다. 안희제의 사생관은 그의 활동 전반을 규율하는 토대로서 삶의 목적 지향적 성격을 지니고 있으며 그의 구국활동을 이해하는 계기가 된다.

영문 초록

One’s view of death and life is the most essential theme of the person’s world view and is the basis of the person’s activity and thought. This paper is a study on the view of death and life of Baeksan Ahn Hee-jae. Baeksan Ahn Hee-jae is a pioneer of Korean people, who dedicated all his life to the nation and people of Korea rather than to his personal comfort and interest. It seems to be his view of death and life deeply ingrained in his mind that made possible his dedication to activities to save the nation with an unfluctuating and consistent spirit. First, his view of death and life is characterized by the fact that it is a view of death and life for the great cause. The great cause means here the great duty that a human being should do or keep, and it works as the principle of conduct for a man of virtue. Second, his view of death and life centered on the nation and people regards the nation, the people, and myself as in an organic relationship. It assumes that if one’s nation falls, the people and I cannot exist at all. Third, his idealistic view of death and life is standing on the reality, yet it is not content with the present state, but aims at the ideal through overcoming himself. He proposes an eternal way of ‘genuine self’, overcoming the finite existence of man. Because he had such a view of death and life as mentioned above, he could live his life according to his conviction in the harsh and cruel world at that time. As the foundation that regulates all of his life and activities, Ahn Hee-jae’s view of death and life is characterized by its orientation toward the purpose of life, and it is also a clue to understanding his activity to save the nation.
