국문 초록

본 논문은 김시습의 인간관에 대하여 정치철학적 관점으로 고찰하는 연구이다. 인간관은 한 인물을 연구하는 가장 기초적인 인식이다. 인간에 대한 인식은 모든 사상의 연원을 이루고 있다. 김시습의 인간관 연구는 세 가지로 파악된다. 첫째, 김시습 인간관은 절대자유를 추구하였다. 절대자유는 유한한 육체의 한계를 넘어서 생사와 미움 증오와 칭찬의 경계를 초월한 무애한 상태를 의미한다. 그는 자신이 몸을 담고 있는 조국의 현실 특히 민중의 삶에 지대한 관심을 가지고 있었다. 그는 현실에 발을 딛고서 절대자유의 경지를 추구하였다. 둘째, 김시습은 의리(義理)에 기초한 인간관을 가지고 있다. 김시습에게 있어 의리(義理)는 자신의 신념체계의 백미이자 모든 행동과 인식의 기초이다. 이러한 의리에서 지조와 절개가 나온다. 인간의 가치는 올바른 이념을 끝까지 지키는 지조가 있을 때 더욱 빛을 발할 수 있다. 의리는 그가 평생 실천한 인간관이다. 셋째, 김시습은 애민주의에 기초한 인간관을 가지고 있다. 왕도정치의 실현은 김시습이 궁극적으로 추구한 것이었다. 왕도정치는 백성을 사랑하고 어진 정사(仁政)를 하는 것이다. 어진 정사의 방법은 백성이 본업에 힘쓰도록 하는 것이다. 김시습이 강조한 애민주의는 백성들의 기본적인 삶이 안정될 수 있도록 하는 실천덕목이다.

영문 초록

This study is a political philosophy approach to Kim Si-Seup’s view on man. A person’s view on man is the basis of our study of the person. The perception of man is the root of all thoughts. There are three main aspects to consider when we examine Kim Si-Seup’s view on man. First, his view on man pursued absolute freedom. Absolute freedom here means a state of boundless freedom from all limitations, transcending life and death, dislike, hatred, and praise beyond the limitations of a finite physical existence. He had a keen interest in the reality of his homeland, particularly in the life of ordinary people. He sought after the state of absolute freedom with his feet firmly on the ground. Second, Kim Si-Seup’s view on man is based on loyalty. Loyalty for him is the core of his belief system and the foundation of all his behavior and cognition. Fidelity and integrity are derived from this loyalty. The value of a man shines all the more brightly only when he keeps his fidelity to the right ideas. Loyalty is the virtue he practised all his life. Third, Kim Si-Seup’s view on man is based on his love for people. Realization of the royal rule of virtue is his ultimate goal. The royal rule of virtue signifies love for people and benevolent administration. Benevolent administration is possible when the ruler sees to it that the people attent to their own business with a minimum of interference from the government or any other possible forces. Love for people that Kim Si-Seup emphasized is a practical virtue to make sure that the basic needs of the people are met and their life is stabilized.
