국문 초록

본 논문은 조나단 에드워즈의 마음의 감각 개념이 오늘날 설교자들에게 줄 수 있는 통찰이 무엇인지 규명하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 마음의 감각은 성도들이 중생할때 성령께서 주시는 새로운 영적인 감각인데, 성도들은 그 감각을 통해 하나님의 아름다움을 경험할 수 있게 된다. 에드워즈는 우리가 새 마음과 새 영을 얻기 위해외부로부터 주어지는 어떤 힘이 있어야 하는데 그것을 신적이고 초월적인 빛 곧 성령의 사역으로 규정한다. 본 논문은 코로나 팬데믹 시대를 맞이하여 강해설교가 나아가야 할 방향성을 제시하는데, 그것은 청중들로 하여금 하나님 말씀에 대한 진정한 경험을 회복하도록 하기 위해 그들의 영적인 감각을 깨우는 설교를 해야 한다는것이다. 이를 위해 성령님의 인도함을 받는 설교자의 거룩한 상상력이 얼마나 중요한지, 나아가 성경 본문에 나타난 감정과 정서를 설교에 반영하여 하나님의 마음과 표정을 드러내는 것이 얼마나 필요한지를 주장한다. 청중들을 변화시키는 능력 있는 강력한 설교는 그들의 정신뿐만 아니라 그들의 마음과 정서를 변화시키는 데서 비롯된다.

영문 초록

This paper proposed an insight from Jonathan Edwards, who argued that people need a new heart and a new spirit and that in order to have a new “heart of flesh,” an outside force must initiate the change. Edwards defined this outside force as a divine and supernatural light, namely the work of the Holy Spirit. When this light shines on the saints’sense of the heart, which the Holy Spirit gives them in regeneration they can experience God’s beauty. This study has made a series of arguments about a new direction for expository preaching that culminate in its thesis: Jonathan Edwards’s “sense of the heart” as a principle of a new kind of perception or spiritual sensation given by the Spirit of God in regeneration, in which a believer tastes or sees God’s beauty, can provide expository preaching with a meaningful direction for the restoration of religious experience. This paper focused on Edwards’s power of imagination, arguing that imagination can trigger the sense of the heart in the saints’ mind and help them experience spiritual reality. Through the imagination, sanctified by the Holy Spirit, preaching can have great impact on listeners’ hearts. In order for expository preaching to be effective preaching, it must be affective preaching, touching the listeners’ hearts as well as their minds.
