국문 초록

한반도에 사는 우리 민족은 지난 백 여년 넘도록 이같은 주변 제국들의 침탈 속에 모든 것을 빼앗기는 참혹한 현실들에서 참으로 힘든 세월을 보냈다. 그리고 지금은 ‘지구적 제국’(global empire) 시대를 겪고 있다. 강대국가들이 지구적 차원의 금융자본, 거대문화산업, 미국의 핵 항공모함 몇 척이 전세계를 장악하는 군사력, 고도의 과학기술 산업, 생명공학, 의학, 우주산업 등으로 전세계를 지배하고 있다. 지금 우리가 겪고 있는 문제들 하나하나도 우리의 비극적인 민족사, 분단의 현실, 그리고 현재의 ‘지구적 제국’과 연결되지 않은 것이 하나도 없다. 우리 사회는 여전히 보수와 진보간 갈등, 이를 부추켜 기득권을 유지하는 언론과 정당, 사회 양극화, 취약한 사회복지와 교육혜택, 비정규직, 외국인노동자와 다문화 가정의 차별, 사회적 소수자 차별과 인권, 기업들의 갑-을의 부당한 관계 등이 사회에 만연해 있다. 종교권력이 기독교 제국을 만들었고, 십자군 전쟁과 식민지 약탈과 선교라는 이중적 모습, 종교재판과 마녀사냥으로 수많은 사람들을 희생자로 만들었다. 종교에서 사회 통합이라는 창시자와 실천가들의 순수한 목적과 사상을 지켜나가지 않으면, 언제든지 종교권력에 의해 변질되는 것을 본다. 예언자들은 왕을 포함한 관료의 권력, 제사장 권력, 사회의 지도층들이 백성들을 억압하고 제도적으로 착취하는 불의와 불평등 구조에 대해서 비판하고, 민중들 편에서 항변하고 정의로운 사회를 이루려는 개혁운동을 펼쳤다. 말하자면 지배층과 예언자들 모두 같은 이름의 하느님을 믿지만, 지배자의 편과 민중의 편에서 서로 다르게 믿은 것이다. 예언자들은 개인적인 신적 체험을 자기 안에 가두지 않고, 사회와 역사를 향하여, 거대하고 호전적인 제국들에 대해서도 날선 비판을 가하며, 세속권력과 종교권력의 문제점들에 대해서도 기탄없이 비판을 가하면서 확대, 승화시키는 것을 본다. 예언자들은 항상 국제적인 안목(제국들의 현실)을 갖고, 이스라엘 내부의 현실 사회를 연계해서 구조적으로 비판했다. 예언자들은 종교와 정치와 사회가 일치된 신권권력의 구조에서 강력한 권력을 남용하고 오용하는 것을 견제하는 역할을 함으로써, 백성들과 민중들의 숨통을 열어주었다. 그들은 이 세력들에 맞서 민중들의 시각에서 정의롭고 평화로운 세상을 꿈꾸고 현실에서 대안적인 실천운동을 펼쳤다. 사회통합은 사회의 대립과 갈등들을 덮어서 조용해지는 것이 해결이고, 화합이 아니라, 잘못된 사회구조를 개혁하고, 그 원인을 규명하여, 새로운 평화로운 세상으로 진전되어 가는 과정이다.

영문 초록

We, people living in Korea peninsula have endured a very difficult time in be deprived all of things from the near strong empires over the centenary. Today we are also experienced the age of ‘global empire.’ American empire rules the whole of world by the capital money, life engineering, high-tech space industry, medical science, the huge cultural industry in the level of global with a few huge aircraft carrier. One thing which we are experiencing is closely related our national tragedy, division of Korea with ‘the global empire.’ Our society is widely spreaded in conflicts between the conservative and progressive, social polarization, weak social welfare and educational benefit, discrimination of migrant workers and multi cultural family, social minority and human rights, inequal relations with big company and small company, etc. Roman empire made a religious power of Christian empire, and religious power made millions of victims through the Crusade, the dual faces of colonial deprivation and mission, religious persecution in the middle age until today. We see the deterioration by religious power, if religion don’t keep the spirit and mind of founder and priests. The prophets of the Old Testament criticized the power of elite, king and priest who oppressed and deprived the people in unjustice and inequal society. They reformed society and defended the movement on the side of Minjung. The elite class and prophets believe the same God, however, they believed in different, the former in ruling side, the latter in Minjung. The prophets criticized the inner society related with international view (empires) structurally. As they played a role to check under the theocracy which joined the politics and religion, they opened the breath of Minjung. They participated in the society for justice and peace in the view of Minjung against the elite power. Social reconciliation is not the resolution and reconciliation which do not cover the confrontation and conflicts, but the procession for the new peaceful world which reforms the unjustice society.
