국문 초록

경제활동이 활발하면 생산량은 늘고 관련 기업들의 탄소배출량은 늘어나기 때문에 배출권을 사들이려는 수요는 늘어나서 배출권가격은 상승하게 된다. 이러한 논리는 산업생산지수와 배출권가격 간 양의 선형 관계를 전제로 하지만 저탄소 기술개발과 재생에너지 사용 증가로 산업생산지수가 증가하더라도 배출권에 대한 수요는 감소해 배출권가격은 하락할 수 있는 비선형관계를 간과하고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 비모수적 추정 방법과 마코브 전환 모형을 통해 산업생산지수와 배출권가격의비선형관계를 중심으로 살펴보았다. 분석 결과 두 변수 간 구조적 변화를 갖는 공적분 관계가 존재하였다. 산업생산지수와 배출권가격은 역 U자형의 비대칭 관계를 갖고, 산업생산지수가 배출권가격에 미치는 영향은 국면에 따라 다른 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 경제활동과 탄소배출권시장의 연관성을 이해하는 데 도움을 줄 것으로 본다.

영문 초록

When economic activity is active, production increases and the carbon emission of related companies increases, so the demand to buy allowances increases and the price of allowances rises. The logic assumes a positive linear relationship between the industrial production index and the allowance price, but overlooks the non-linear relationship in which the demand for allowances decreases and the allowance price declines despite the increase in industrial production due to the development of low-carbon technology and the increase in the use of renewable energy. Therefore, in this study, the non-linear relationship between the industrial production index and the allowance price was examined through the non-parametric estimation method and the Markov switching model. As a result, there was a cointegration relationship with the structural change between the two variables. It was found that the industrial production index and the carbon allowance price have an inverse U-shaped asymmetric relationship, and the influence of the industrial production index on the carbon allowance price differs depending on the situation. These results are expected to help understand the relationship between economic activity and the carbon allowance market.
