『장자』를 통해 본 ‘유아’의 의미와 유아교육적 함의

국문 초록

본 연구는 『장자』에서 ‘아이’와 관련된 내용을 살펴보고 그 의미를 고찰해봄으로써, 현대 유아교육에 주는 함의점을 모색해보았다. 본 연구결과 『장자』를 통해 다시 본 유아는 무無가 충만한 생명으로 무엇으로도 될 수 있는 잠재성을 지닌 존재로 이해된다. 유아가 규정할 수 없는 존재라는 점은, 시･공간의 얽힘 속에 ‘지금-여기’를 살아가는 생명적 존재임을 함의한다. 그리고 세상을 그 자체로 만남에 따라 늘 변용하는 유아는 매 순간 거듭 생성되는 존재라 할 수 있다. 이때 유아는 수많은 생명들의 얽힘이 중첩되어 생성된 존재이자, 또 다른 생기들과 얽히며 새로운 생성을 지속하는 존재이다. 그런 점에서 유아는 만물과 조화를 이루며 스스로 그러하게 살아가는 존재라 할 수 있다. 이처럼 『장자』를 통해 ‘유아’를 다시 본 결과는, 유아교육이 생기하는 자연의 존재로 유아를 보기 위해 아동관의 축을 무無의 시선에 둘 필요가 있으며, 유아를 이해하기 위해 온생명적으로 접근하여 이해하는 것이 필요함을 시사하였다. 또 유아가 타자와 자연스럽게 얽히고 변용하며 앎을 생성한다는 점에서 유아교육에서 앎의 생성의 주체로 유아를 위치시키게 한다. 본 연구는 기존의 유아교육에서 교육대상으로 위치했던 유아의 잠재성에 대한 본질을 이해하게 하며 유아의 존재 자체를 긍정하는 새로운 시선을 보여준다는 점에서 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

This study explored the implications of 『Chuang-tzu』 for modern early childhood education by examining the contents related to 'child', and examining its meaning. As a result of this study, the children who looked back through 『Chuang-tzu』 are understood as beings with the potential to become anything with a life full of Wu (無). The fact that children cannot be defined implies that they are living beings living in the ‘here-now’ amid the entanglement of time and space. Additionally, the children, who always change based on the encounter with the world itself, can be said to be a being that is created over and over again at every moment. At this time, the child is a being created by overlapping the entanglement of numerous living beings, and is a being that continues to be created by being entangled with other vitalities. In that sense, children can be said to be living beings that are in harmony with all things. As a result of looking at children again through the 『Chuang-tzu』, it is necessary to put the axis of the children's view on the point of Wu (無) and to approach children with a monistic view of the living being perspective to understand them. Additionally, the results of this study place children as subjects of knowledge creation in early childhood education in that children naturally become entangled and transformed with others to generate knowledge. This study is meaningful in that it shows a new perspective that affirms the existence of children itself while understanding the essence of the potential of children, which were positioned as educational objects in existing early childhood education.
