전공집단에 따른 잠재적 대전제의 다양성

국문 초록

연구목적 이 연구에서는 예비과학교사들이 인종개념을 판단함에 있어 잠재적으로 상정하고 있는 생략된대전제를 아리스토텔레스 생략삼단논법을 통해 복원하여 전공집단 간에 어떠한 양상을 보이는지 확인하고자 하였다. 연구방법 인종에 따른 인간 분류가 생물학적으로 근거가 있는지 묻는 진위형 문항과 그 근거에 관해서술하는 개방형 문항이 혼합된 질적 설문지를 남부권에 있는 교원양성기관의 과학전공 예비교사 218명에게 투입하여 자료를 수집하였으며 이를 질적으로 분석하였다. 연구결과 연구결과, 인종에 따른 인간 분류에 생물학적 근거가 있는가에 관한 판단에 있어 전공집단에따른 차이는 발견되지 않았으나 전공집단마다 생략된 잠재적 대전제의 형태는 서로 달랐으며 논증 구성방식에서도 그 양상이 다르게 나타났다. 결론 이는, 동일한 생명과학 지식을 가르치는 과정에서조차 교사들 간 서로 다른 대전제 하에서 수업이진행될 수 있으며 “왜”라는 학생의 질문에 교사의 판단 논리에 따라 다른 응답을 제시할 수 있음을 암시하고있다. 따라서 예비교사들이 자신들도 모르는 사이 상정하고 있는 생략된 대전제가 무엇인지 인식할 수있도록 해야 하며, 잠재적 대전제의 위험에 빠지지 않도록 다양한 집단의 사람들이 가지고 있는 다양한대전제를 접할 기회를 제공해주어야 함을 제언한다.

영문 초록

Purpose: This study attempted to identify implicit premise that pre-service science teachers potentially assume when judging the concept of race differs between major groups through Aristotle's enthymeme. Methods: The qualitative questionnaire consisted of two type of questions; true-false and open-ended that asked whether classifying humans into race has biological grounds or not and what the logic for the claim is. Data were collected from 218 pre-service teachers majoring in science at secondary teacher training institute(college of education) and were analyzed qualitatively. Results: As a result of the study, no difference between major groups was found in judging whether there are biological grounds for human classification by race. However, between the life science major group and the material science major group, the forms of the eliminated major premises were different, and the patterns were also different in the way the arguments were constructed. Conclusion: This research suggests that even with the same biological knowledge, different classes can be conducted under teachers’ different major premise and also different responses can be presented to students who ask for clarification depending on the teacher's logic. Therefore, it is necessary to educate pre-service science teachers so that they can recognize what omitted major premise they are assuming, and by doing this it should provide an opportunity to encounter the various premise of various people and avoid falling into the risk of holding a potential premise.
