국문 초록

본 연구는 한일 간 대기업-중소기업 간의 관계를 중소기업의 노동생산성 개선이 대기업 생산성에 미치는 효과를 중심으로 비교하였다. 그 결과 그랜저 인과성 검정 결과에 따르면, 한국과 일본 모두에서 중소기업의 생산성 향상은 대기업 생산성 향상을 단기적으로 Granger cause하지만 그 역은 성립하지 않았다. 아울러 장기뿐만 아니라 단기에 있어서 중소기업 생산성 향상이 장기적으로 대기업의 생산성 향상에 긍정적 효과를 미친다는 점을 공적분 관계식의 추정과 오차수정모형의 추정을 통해 각각 확인할 수 있었다. 이러한 결과는 일본의 발전 과정을 많은 면에서 모방한 한국이 대·중소기업 관계에서 일본처럼 협력적 관계와 이중구조를 발전시켜 왔기 때문으로 파악된다. 그러나 일본의 중소기업이 독자적으로 국민경제 생산성 제고에 미치는 효과가 한국보다 더 높게 나타났는데, 이는 이중구조를 해소하려는 일본 정부와 기업의 오랜 기간에 걸친 노력의 결과로 판단된다.

영문 초록

We investigate to what extent productivity of large firms is influenced by productivity growth of small and medium-sized enterprises(SMEs). Our main findings from the analysis of Granger causality, cointegration and error-correction model are as follows. First, we cannot reject that SME labour productivity increases Granger causes labour productivity increases of large firms both in Korea and in Japan. Second, we find evidence for a positive effect of SME labour productivity increases on labour productivity increases of large firms not only in the long-run but also in the short-run both in Korea and Japan. This empirical findings is judged to be from the fact that Korea has benchmarked Japanese industrial development in the form of cooperative relation between large firms and SME. However, we have note that the productivity gap between large firms and SME in Japan decreased rapidly compared to Korea due to the cumulative effort of Japanese policy authority and industrial sectors to increase economic efficiency.
