한성백제기(漢城百濟期) 거점도시(據點都市)의 구조(構造)와 기능(機能)

국문 초록

세종시 나성리의 금강 하안단구에서 기존의 주거 형태와는 전혀 다른 한성 백제기의 취락 형태가 확인되었다. 도로의 좌우측에 구로 구획한 부지를 마련하고, 내부에 주구를 갖춘 건물지와 그 주변으로 3~4동의 고상식 건물, 수혈유구 등을 배치하였다. 이러한 취락 형태는 그간 알려진 백제시대 취락과는 전혀 다르다. 구획의 규모와 형태가 상당하고, 내부에 다양한 건물을 배치하면서, 넓은 면적의 부지를 확보하였다는 점에서 일반 취락과는 다른 형태, 즉 도시라는 관점에서 유적을 바라볼 수 있게 되었다. 도시를 구성하는 요소는 사회·문화적인 요소와 물리적인 요소가 있는데, 고고학에서는 집주와 생활을 위한 사적인 거주시설, 경제와 여가활동을 담당하는 장소 및 시설물, 공적 공간의 시설물로 이들을 파악하는데, 나성리 유적은 이 모두를 만족시키고 있다. 이처럼 나성리유적은 도시의 기능을 갖추고 있는데, 그 과정에는 주변 취락과의 유기적인 조직망을 형성하면서 가능하게 되었을 것이다. 나성리 유적의 영역권에 속하는 취락으로는 전체적인 발굴조사 결과를 종합한 결과, 5개 취락군이 관찰된다. 일반농경생산취락(송담리, 대평리 A·B 취락군), 초기에 물류를 담당했던 취락(석삼리 취락군), 저장 및 관리를 담당한 취락(월산리 황골취락군)으로 구성되어 있는데, 이들 연합체에 의해 나성리유적이 형성되었을 것으로 추정된다. 특히 나성리도시의 건설을 주도한 집단으로 석삼리취락을 상정해 보았는데, 당시의 사회 구조 변화에 따른 백제 중앙과의 유기적 관계를 위해 새로운 정치 경제적 거점지의 확보가 지역 내에서 요구되었기 때문일 것이다. 결국, 교통 및 물류 수송에 유리한 안정적인 나성리의 하안 단구가 최적의 입지로 선택되면서 거점도시로서의 중요한 역할을 수행해 나간 것으로 판단하였다.

영문 초록

The large settlement Hanseong Baekjephase on the riverine terrace of the river Guem, Naseong ri, Sejong City, exhibiting the distinguishable layout of the residental area from the previous typical settlement patterns, was excavated. It shows the presence of the plotted space by the ditches on the right and left sides of the road, the building structure with the ditch inside and three to four houses built on the standing poles, and sunken floor features. The large size of the district with various types of building on the large area leads to the assumption that it might have been categorized as the urban area. What constitutes the city include the private residential sector, place and facility for economic and pastime activities and public space, all of which are present in the Naseongri site. The Naseongri site with the such practical function, might have developed with the interactive network with the adjacent local settlements. Five settlement patterns under the Nasungri’s political influence are identified. They are the settlements in charge of agricultural production(Songda-mri, Daepyeongri A·B settlements), one of redistribution of the products(Seok-amri), and the settlements for storage and management (Wolsanri Hwanggol). Such association and cooperation between these settlements might have been a driving force in formation of the Naseongri. In particular, it is assumed that the Seoksamri settlement might have led the construction of the Naseongri urban area. The reason is likely that new political and economic nodal point in this region must have been required for interactive relations with the Baekje’s main ruling class. Thus the Naseongri was selected for new center due to its location of the riverine terrace which is suitable for transportation and redistribution of the products, and it might have played a major role as the local center.
