국문 초록

[연구목적]본 연구의 목적은 기업의 ESG 투자가 법인세법 및 조세특례제한법에서 규정하는 세제혜택을 통하여 기업가치 및 기업성과에 미치는 영향을 분석하는 것이다. [연구방법] 본 연구는 2014년부터 2020년까지 한국지배구조연구원에서 발표하는 ESG 등급이 있는 유가증권시장 및 코스닥시장에 상장된 기업을 대상으로 분석하였다. 환경(E) 평가가 좋은 경우에 회계이익과 세무이익 간의 영구적 차이가 높게 나타나는지 검증함으로써 환경(E) 평가가 좋은 기업들이 관련 세제혜택을 받고 있는지 확인하였고, 환경(E)에 대한 좋은 평가가 조세회피와 기업가치 및 기업성과와의 관계에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. [연구결과]ESG 중 환경(E) 평가가 좋을 경우 각종 세액감면 및 공제 혜택을 받을 가능성이 높은 것으로 확인되었다. 환경(E) 평가가 좋은 경우에 조세회피가 기업가치를 낮추는 효과는 약화되는 것으로 나타났으며, 환경(E)에 대한 평가가 조세회피와 당기 기업성과의 양의 관계를 약화시키는 것으로 나타났다. [연구의 시사점]선행연구의 ESG 평가등급과 기업가치의 관계 중 환경(E) 평가등급이 세제혜택을 통해 기업가치 및 기업성과에 미치는 영향을 세부적으로 분석하였다

영문 초록

[Purpose]The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of ESG investment on firm value and firm performance through tax benefits stipulated in the Corporate Tax Act and the Restriction of Special Taxation Act. [Methodology]This study analyzed companies listed on the securities and KOSDAQ market with ESG grades announced by the Korea Institute for Governance from 2014 to 2020. By verifying that permanent BTD appear high when the environmental(E) grade is good, we checked whether companies with good environmental(E) grade receive related tax benefits, and analyzed the effect of good environmental(E) grade on the relationship between tax avoidance and firm value, and firm performance. [Findings] Itwas confirmed that if the enviornmental(E) grade is good, there is a high possibility of receiving tax reductions and credits. When the enviornmental(E) grade is good, the effect of tax avoidance on lowering firm value is weaken. The enviornmental(E) evaluations also mitigates the positive relationship between tax avoidance and current firm performnace. [Implications]This study specifically analyzed the effect of environmental ratings, not ESG integrated ratings, on corporate value and corporate performance through tax benefits.
