어린 자녀가 있는 맞벌이 부부의 시간 배분에 관한 연구

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 어린 자녀가 있는 맞벌이 부부의 시간 배분이 어떠한 하위 집단으로 구분되며, 집단별로 남성과 여성, 가구의 특성이 상이한지를 살펴보고, 하위 집단에 따라 이들의 주관적 인식에도 차이가 있는지 확인하는 것이다. 이를 위해 2019년 통계청 생활시간조사를 이용하여 만 10세 미만 자녀가 있는 439쌍의 맞벌이 부부를 대상으로, 남성과 여성의 일시간, 가정관리시간, 자녀돌봄시간을 변수로 잠재적 프로파일 분석을 시행하였으며, 분석결과 총 3개의 상이한 집단이 있는 것으로 나타나며, 유형에 따라 이들의 남녀의 개별 특성과 가구의 특성의 차이, 주관적 인식에 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 구체적으로 어린 자녀가 있는 맞벌이 부부의 대부분은 남성 장시간-여성 표준시간 형태로 일 시간을 배분하며, 여성이 대부분의 가사노동과 자녀 돌봄을 전담하는 형태로 시간을 배분을 하며, 이들 중 돌봄의 책임이 많은 일부 맞벌이 부부는 여성이 반일제 노동을 선택하는 방식으로 가사와 돌봄의 책임을 분담하나, 이들 여성의 노동시장의 지위는 낮아 이들 부부의 가구 소득도 낮고 부부의 삶의 만족도도 다른 집단보다 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 한편 노동시장의 지위가 높은 일부 소수의 맞벌이 부부는 노동시간과 가사돌봄시간을 남녀간에 유사하게 배분하는 젠더 평등한 시간 배분이 이루어지는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 어린자녀가 있는 맞벌이 부부의 시간배분이 이들의 노동시장 지위와 소득에 따라 차등화되는 계층화를 보여준다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 장시간 노동문화의 변화, 좋은 시간제 일자리의 필요성, 자녀 수에 따른 소득지원의 필요성을 정책제언으로 언급하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to examine how the time distribution of dual-income couples with young children is divided into, and whether the characteristics of them and subjective perceptions are different by the subgroups. For this, with 2019 Time Use Survey(Statistics Korea), latent profile analysis was conducted for 439 dual-income couples with children under the age of 10, using both men and women’s working hours, house work hours, and childcare hours as variables. As a result, It is found that there are three different subgroups, and depending on the subgroup, there are differences in individual(both men and women) and household characteristics, and differences in subjective perception. Most of the dual-income couples with young children allocate their time such a way that men work long hours, women work standard hours, and women do most of the housework and child care. And some couples with many young children, women take the most responsibilities of housework and child care by reducing their working hours(part-time work), but these women’s labor market status is low, these couple’s household income and their life sanctification also low than other couples. On the other hand, few dual-income couples with relatively higher labor market status showed gender-equal time distribution. Overall, this result is shows ‘stratification’ in which time distribution was differentiated according to their labor market status and income. Based on these results, changes in long working hours culture, the need for ’decent’ part-time jobs, and the need for income support for households with many young children are mentioned as policy suggestions.
