유가적 ‘德’의 문제에 관한 묵자의 비판

국문 초록

본 논문의 목적은 『묵자(墨子)』의「비유(非儒)」편에서 개진되고 있는 유(儒) 비판을 중점적으로 분석함으로써, 여기에서 제기되고 있는 논점을 윤리학의 보편적인 문제에 접속시키려는 것이다. 이제까지 묵자의 유(儒) 비판론은 공자의 사후 타락한 유(儒)의 단면을 지적하는 제한적인 논의로 취급되거나, 그의 주요한 ‘열 가지 입론[十論]’을 중심으로 분석되어왔다. 하지만 묵자의 유(儒) 비판 특히, 「비유(非儒)」의 논점은 내면적 덕성의 함양을 당대의 사회․정치적 문제 상황에 대한 해법으로 제시하는 입론이 답해야 할 근본적 문제를 겨냥하고 있다. 여기에서 제기된 도덕적 실천에 있어 위선(僞善)의 문제와 환경결정론의 문제, 그리고 덕의 가변성과 역사성의 문제는 고대 유학에만 유효한 문제제기가 아니라, 인간의 내면적 덕성을 함양하는 것을 도덕 교육과 실천의 근간으로 삼는 현대 윤리학의 입론 에서도 여전히 진지한 응답을 요구받는 보편적인 문제에 해당한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this paper is to connect the issues raised here to the universal issue of ethics by focusing on analyzing the criticism of the Ru, which is being presented in the “Feiru” of Mozi Until now, Mozi s criticism of Ru has been treated as a limited discussion pointing out the cross-section of Ru, who has fallen after Confucius death, or has been analyzed focusing on his main ten theories . However, the criticism of Mozi s Ru, in particular, the issue of “Feiru” aims at the fundamental problem that should be answered by the theory that presents the cultivation of inner virtue as a solution to the social and political problem situation of the time. In moral practice raised here, the problem of hypocrisy, environmental determinism, and the problem of virtue conservatism are not only valid for ancient studies, but also universal issues that require serious responses from modern ethics, which uses cultivating human inner virtue as the basis of moral education and practice.
