영문 초록

This thesis focuses on the life and poetic world of Gwanhae Lim Hoi. He was a governor of Gwangju-mock(廣州牧使), royal and faithful scholar who was dead during the revolt of Lee, Gwal(李适), and also one of the famous poets in King Sunjo period. Lim, Hoi kept company with famous contemporary poets such as Lee, Junggwi(李廷龜)․Gwon, Phil(權韠)․Lee, Annul(李安訥)․Lim, Sookyoung(任叔英), and etc. But he left a few poems, so they couldn t be published as a book. They just attached as a supplement of the posthumous collection of Lim, Hyungsoo(林亨秀). Therefore, his poems has been received little attention. Lim, Hoi went through heart-broken sufferings and difficulties in his life. Because of troubled political reality and the resulting circumstances in 16th century, he couldn t show his talent and spent most of his life in exile or banishment. Nevertheless, his faithfulness at home and fidelity in the face of death are to be admired. Most of his poems were written in banishment in Haeseo(海西) and exile in Yangsan(梁山). Poems in banishment are serene, calm, and peaceful. His banishment was a superficially voluntary thing but, in fact, a choice from unavoidable circumstances. Nevertheless, his poems are tranquil and peaceful, not malcontented and suffocating. It is because he has pure and elegant personality and he usually tries to improve himself by self-discipline. In contrast, poems in exile express deep anxiety about his ruin and sad thoughts of living as an exile. Like other exile poems, his poems reveal his worry and sadness. They show deep sorrow for himself who gets sick in obscurity and his longing for his friends with whom he couldn t meet and hometown to which he couldn t return.
