코로나19 상황 속 원격수업에서의 보조공학 활용 관련 특수교사들의 경험 및 인식에 관한 질적 연구

국문 초록

연구목적: 본 연구는 코로나19 상황 속 원격수업을 진행하는 과정에서 특수교사들의 보조공학 활용 경험과 활용에서의 도전과제와 향후 보조공학 지원방안에 대한 인식을 살펴보고자 하였다. 연구방법: 유·초·중등 특수학교(급) 및 특수교육지원센터의 특수교사 12명을 대상으로 반구조화된 개방형 질문지를 활용해 포커스그룹 면담을 실시하였다. 연구결과: 첫째, 준비되지 않은 상태에서 원격수업은 교사들에게 새로운 과제였으며, 특히 대면수업과 비교해 보조공학 활용도는 전반적으로 낮았으나 필요성에 대해 눈을 뜨는 기회가 되었다고 하였다. 둘째, 원격수업 중 보조공학의 활용도는 장애유형에 따라 큰 편차를 보였으며, 시각장애 및 청각장애보다 발달장애 및 중도중복장애 학생들에게 적합한 원격수업과 보조공학 접근은 더 소극적이고 미진한 격차가 있음을 보고하였다. 셋째, 원격수업을 통해 특수교사들은 보조공학 지원에 대한 인식 전환 및 역량 강화의 기회가 되었고 보조공학기기와 정보화기기에 대한 인식과 저변의 확대가 이루어졌다고 하였다. 또한 장애학생의 성공적인 원격수업 시 보조공학 활용을 위해 기기 및 서비스 제공의 원활함과 특수교사 및 학부모 등의 지원인력의 전문성 강화가 요구되었다. 결론: 원격수업에서의 보조공학 활용 활성화를 위한 보조공학 지원체계의 수립이 필요하며, 교사들의 역량강화 노력과 학생 보조공학 지원인력의 전문성 강화가 요구된다.

영문 초록

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate special education teachers’ experience of using assistive technology for distance learning during the COVID-19 pandemic and perceptions of the challenges and support needs for successful use of assistive technology. Method: In-depth focus group interviews were conducted using semi-structured open-ended questions with 12 K-12 special education teachers working in special education schools, general education school resource rooms, and special education support centers. Results: First, teachers thought that preparing for distance learning was challenging. In particular, compared to face-to-face classes, the use of assistive technology for distance learning was lower in general, but it was an opportunity to help them understand their necessity. Second, it was reported that there was a large gap in the use of assistive technology depending on the type of disability. The use of assistive technology was more passive and insufficient for students with developmental disabilities and severe and multiple disabilities compared to students with hearing or visual impairments. Third, distance learning provided an opportunity for special education teachers to change their perceptions and strengthen their capabilities regarding the use of assistive technology and expand their awareness of assistive technology and information technology. In addition, for the successful use of assistive technology for students with disabilities, it is required to provide devices and related services and enhance the expertise of special education teachers and parents of students with disabilities on the use of assistive technology. Conclusion: To promote the use of assistive technology for distance learning, it is necessary to establish an assistive technology support system and enhance the expertise of special education teachers and support personnel on the use of assistive technology.
