국문 초록

지역경찰활동의 궁극적인 목적은 지역사회와 주민들 간의 유기적인 관계를 통해 지역사회에 대한 범죄억제력을 제공하며 범죄를 예방하고 지역주민들의 범죄두려움을 감소시키는 것이다. 뿐만 아니라 치안공동생산자로서 경비근무자와 지역경찰 및 주민간의 협력과 신뢰는 안전한 사회를 만드는 매우 중요한 근간이라고 할 만하다. 이 연구는 폭증하는 범죄와 위험에 대응하는 경찰력의 한계를 인식하고, 자치경찰제 도입이라는 새로운 치안시스템을 효과적으로 정착시키기 위하여 민간경비의 협조가 필요하다는 전제에서 출발한다. 따라서 현대 민간경비는 경찰과 유사한 치안자원을 갖추고 범죄의 예방이라는 동일한 목적을 가지고 활동하고 있다는 점에서 민간경비 근무자들이 지역경찰 활동에 대한 인식과 관심도가 범죄두려움에 어떠한 영향 미치고 있는가에 대하여 살펴보고자 한다. 분석결과 경비근무자가 지역경찰에 대한 다양한 정보를 긍정적으로 인식하고 있는 것이 범죄 두려움에 어떠한 영향을 미치는 지는 향후 협력 지원의 중요한 자료가 될 것으로 판단하였고 실제로 영향 관계가 있음이 확인되었다.

영문 초록

The ultimate purpose of local police system is to provide crime deterrence to the community, to prevent crimes, and to reduce the fear of crime through organic relations between the community and residents. In addition, a security guard as a co-producer of public security and cooperation and confidence between local police officers and residents are very important basis for creating a safe society. This study aimed to recognize the limitations of police force in response to soaring crimes and risks and to establish a new security system called local police system effectively with that premise of cooperation of private security. This was to examine how private security guards’ awareness and interest in local police system affects the fear of crime in that modern private security has security resources similar to those of the police and operates with the same purpose of preventing crime. The findings showed that security guards’ perceptions which positively recognize various information about local police have significant influence on the fear of crime. The results of the study contribute to be crucial data in cooperative supporting.
