The purpose of this study was to investigate the university students’ perceptions of self-directed English learning since the COVID-19 pandemic. To accomplish this, the following survey was conducted; students were asked to evaluate two factors, learner factor and self-directed English learning in order to examine its importance. A total of 72 university students participated in this study. The data analysis showed that self-directed learning, motivation, and technology literacy are highly important to learners of English in the COVID-19 era. The results also presented that university students perceived voluntary plans and responsibility for learning as the most important factor among 7 sub-factors of self-directed English learning. Based on the results, some possible effective methods and considerations for the post-COVID-19 were suggested.
