시설거주아동과 일반가정아동의 상황예측추론 특성 비교

국문 초록

일반적으로 아동들은 태어나면서부터 다양한 환경에 노출되어 주변 사람들과 상호작용을 하면서 언어를 발달시켜 간다. 그러나 시설에서 생활하는 아동들은 어린 시절부터 부모와 분리되고, 제한된 환경 안에서 집단생활을 하기 때문에 일반 가정 아동들보다 상대적으로 환경적인 결핍을 경험할 수 있다. 이에 본 연구는 언어 발달에 영향을 미칠 수 있는 외적 환경이 다른 시설 거주 아동과 일반 가정 아동들을 대상으로 이들의 상황추론 능력을 알아보고자 하였다. 본 연구는 시설 거주 아동 15명과 일반 가정 아동 15명을 대상으로 하였으며, 앞으로 일어나는 사건이나 행동을 예측하도록 하는 과제를 실시하여 두 집단 간에 추론 수행에 차이가 있는지를 알아보았다. 연구 결과 시설 거주 아동이 일반 가정 아동들에 비해 상황을 추론하는 데 유의미하게 저조한 수행을 보였음을 확인하였다. 이 같은 결과는 다양한 사회적 경험의 기회를 제공하는데 상대적으로 제한이 있는 시설 환경이 시설 거주 아동의 추론 능력에 영향을 미쳤을 것으로 해석할 수 있겠다.

영문 초록

Generally children are exposed to various environments from birth and develop language through interacting with people around them. However, institutional children could experience environmental deficit compared to at-home children because they have been separated from their parents since their childhood and have lived with peers in limited environment. The purpose of this study was to investigate the predictive inference ability in the institutional children and the at-home children, who have difference of external environment that could affect their language development. For this study, 15 institutional children and 15 at-home children were participated and were asked to solve the predictive inference tasks. To compare their performances of two groups, t-test was conducted. As a result, it was confirmed that the institutional children had significantly lower performance in predicting inference than the at-home children. It can be interpreted that the institutional environment, which cannot provide individualized experiences or opportunities for diverse social experiences, would influence to solve the predictive inference tasks in institutional children.
