비정규직 활용이 분위별 기업성과에 미치는 영향

국문 초록

2007년 비정규직법 시행 등 비정규직의 확산을 규제하기 위한 다양한 정책적 시도에도 불구하고 우리나라의 비정규직 비율은 2019년과 2020년 36.4%와 36.6%로 여전히 높다. 이는 비정규직 고용이 경영성과를 향상시킬 것이라는 경제적 동기 내지 기대와 관련이 있을 것으로 보여진다. 따라서 본 연구는 분위회귀(quantile regression)를 통해 비정규직 비율이 기업의 재무성과에 미치는 영향을 추정 하였다. 분석결과, 비정규직 고용은 중상위 성과분위에 해당하는 사업체의 매출액 및 영업이익에 큰 경제적 이점을 제공하는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 비정규직 남용을 규제하는 정책을 도입함에 있어 기업성과특성에 따른 세분화된 접근이 필요함을 시사한다.

영문 초록

The Korean government has made various policy attempts to regulate the spread of irregular workers such as the enforcement of the Irregular Workers Protection Acts in 2007, but the proportion of irregular workers in the Korean labor market is still high at 36.4% in 2019 and 36.6% in 2020. This seems to be related to the economic motivation or expectation that the employment of irregular workers improves management performance. Therefore, this study analyzes the effect of the employing of irregular workers on financial performance using quantile regression. As a result of the analysis, it is found that employing irregular workers provides the largest economic advantage to businesses in the middle and upper percentile of the distribution of sales and operating profit, despite the burden of labor costs. This suggests that government should consider a segmented approach according to the characteristics of corporate performance when introducing a policy to regulate the proliferation of irregular workers.
