한려해상국립공원 조류 다양성 및 군집구조에 대한 경관인자의 상대적 중요성

국문 초록

본 연구는 한려해상국립공원 거제·통영지역 유·무인 도서들에 서식하는 조류의 종다양성, 계통학적·기능적 군집구조에 대한 경관인자의 상대적 중요성을 규명하고자 수행되었다. 특히, 본 연구는 종다양성에 한정된 생물다양성 연구의 한계점을 극복하고 계통학적·기능적 다양성과 관련된 군집구조를 경관인자인 섬면적, 서식지 이질성, 육지로부터의 거리, 구조적 연결성과 통합적으로 분석한 국내 최초의 사례이다. 한려해상국립공원 거제·해금강지구와 통영·한산지구 62개 섬에서 총 47과 90속 162종의 조류가 관찰되었다. 조류 종다양성 및 군집구조에 대한 경관인자의 효과를 분석한 결과 전체, 유·무인도서의 종풍부도에 영향을 주는 경관인자는 섬면적이었다. 또한 유인도서의 계통학적 군집구조 지수는 섬면적과 구조적 연결성에 영향을 받았으나, 무인도서의 경우 섬면적에만 영향을 받았다. 기능적 군집구조 지수의 경우 무인도서에서는 섬면적에 영향을 받았으나, 유인도서에서는 어떠한 경관인자와도 관련이 없는 것으로 나타났다. 즉, 유인도서는 대체적으로 섬면적이 넓고 구조적 연결성이 높아 조류종의 이동이 활발한 반면, 무인도서는 섬면적이 좁을 뿐만 아니라 다른 섬들과의 연결성이 낮아 고립되기 쉬운 조건으로 인해 계통학적으로 유사한 종들이 분포하는 것으로 판단된다. 이러한 결과는 한려해상국립공원 무인도서에 서식하는 조류군집은 질병, 교란 등 불리한 환경조건이 발생했을 때, 절멸할 가능성이 유인도서에 비해 높으며, 무인도서의 생물다양성 보전·관리에 전략적으로 많은 노력을 기울여야 한다는 것을 제시한다. 또한, 생물다양성 분석에 있어 전통적인 종다양성 뿐 아니라 계통학적 그리고 기능적 군집구조를 포함한 통합적 생물다양성 분석이 수행되어야 함을 시사한다.

영문 초록

This research was conducted to clarify the relative importance of landscape variables to the species diversity, phylogenetic and functional community structures of bird species dwelling in inhabited and uninhabited islands in Geoje-Tongyeong districts of Hallyeohaesang National Marine Park. In particular, this study is the first case to overcome limitations of traditional species-centric approach in biodiversity research and comprehensively analyze community structure related to phylogenetic and functional diversity with landscape variables such as island area, habitat heterogeneity, distance from mainland, and structural connectivity in South Korea. A total of 162 bird species were recorded belonging to 47 families and 90 genera on 62 islands in Geoje-Haegeumgang and Tongyeong-Hansan districts of Hallyeohaesang National Marine Park. As a result of analyzing effects of landscape variables on bird species diversity and the community structure, landscape variable that affects species richness was island area for all, inhabited and uninhabited islands. Phylogenetic community structure were also influenced by island area and structural connectivity for inhabited islands, but only by island area for uninhabited islands. Functional community structure was regulated by island area for uninhabited islands, but there were no significant landscape variables for inhabited islands. That is, large area and high structural connectivity among inhabited islands lead to vigorous species turnover, however there are phylogenetic clustering due to stronger isolation effect by small area and lower structural connectivity among uninhabited islands than among inhabited islands. These results indicate that birds communities in uninhabited islands are prone to extinction when exposed to unfavorable environmental conditions inclding disease and disturbance, therefore more strategic efforts are required to conserve and manage biodiversity. We also suggest integrated biodiversity analysis, including phylogenetic and functional community structures as well as traditional species diversity for conservation planning in island ecosystems.
