국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 과업집중 분석법을 통한 우수 초등영어 수업의 관찰 및 분석을 통하여 효과적인 과업조건을 파악하는데 있다. 수업 관찰 대상은 초등학교 6학년 과업 중심 수업으로 과업 중 활동을 연습(practice), 발표(presentation)와 퀴즈(quiz)의 세 단계로 나누어 과업집중도를 도출하였다. 또한 과업조건 유형은 정보의 흐름에 따른 단방향 과업과 양방향 과업의 분류 및 과업결과 일치여부에 따른 수렴 과업과 발산 과업의 분류에 따라 과업집중도를 산출하였다. 분석 결과, 본 수업에서의 과업집중도는 비과업집중도에 비해 매우 높은 것으로 나타났다. 과업의 단계에서는 교사 중심적 활동보다 학생 주도적 활동에서 과업집중도가 소폭 상승하였다. 과업조건별 과업집중도에서는 단방향 과업에 집중한 비율이(43.58%) 양방향 과업에 집중한 비율(56.42%) 보다 낮았으며, 수렴 과업에 집중한 비율(69.73%)은 발산 과업에 집중한 비율(30.27%) 보다 높게 도출되었다. 언어 기능별 과업집중도는 듣기(48.43%)가 가장 높았으며, 읽기(19.13%), 쓰기(18.28%)와 말하기(14.16%)의 순서로 나타났다. 본 수업의 분석 결과를 바탕으로 우수한 초등영어 수업의 과업 양상을 파악하고 추후 효과적인 과업조건을 구성하기 위한 지표로 활용할 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

This study is to investigate task conditions by observing an elementary English class with teaching excellence using on-task analytic criteria. To this end, a 6th grade excellent teaching class was selected that is organized in TBL(Task-based Learning). On-task analytic criteria were applied to the while-task activities containing three activities: practice, presentation, and quiz. On-task analytic criteria was used to code and calculate students’s task behaviors in English class events. Task conditions were analyzed in terms of information direction (one-way task, two-way task) and task convergence (convergent task, divergent task). The findings are: On-task behaviors are much higher in English class than off-task behaviors. Students tend to engage more in student-centered activities than teacher-centered, but free-riders are noted in group tasks. One-way task is used at early stages of while-task and two-way task ensues. Convergent task was higher than divergent task. Listening skill(48.43%) is the most widely used followed by reading(19.13%), writing(18.28%), and speaking(14.16%).
