국문 초록

4차 산업혁명 시대의 인재가 갖춰야 할 중요한 역량으로 자기주도학습능력과 문제해결능력이 강조되고 있는 시점에서 본 연구는 학습자 중심 교수방법인 PBL을 적용한 수업이 대학생의 자기주도학습능력, 문제해결능력, 자기효능감에 미치는 효과성을 파악하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 서울 소재 D대학교에 개설된 PBL 적용‘소비자의사결정’교과목을 수강한 대학생 26명을 대상으로 자기주도학습능력, 문제해결능력, 자기효능감에 대한 사전, 사후 조사를 실시하여 PBL 수업의 효과성을 분석하였다. 또한 학습자가 작성한 성찰일지를 통해 학습자 스스로 경험한 자기주도학습능력, 문제해결능력, 자기효능감에 대하여 분석하였다. 분석결과, PBL 수업은 대학생의 자기주도학습능력, 문제해결능력, 자기효능감 모두에서 통계적으로 유의한 증가를 나타내어 PBL 수업의 긍정적 효과성이 검증되었다. 또한 성찰일지에서 학습자는 PBL 수업을 통해 실제적인 문제해결과정과 적용에 대한 성취감을 얻었으며, 자기주도적 학습방법과 효과를 직접적으로 체험하며 자신감을 가지게 된 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과를 통해 시대적 변화에 요구되는 학습자 역량 강화를 위해 PBL 수업이 다양한 분야에서 적용 개발되어 체계적으로 운영될 필요가 있음을 알 수 있다.

영문 초록

Self-directed learning abilities and problem-solving abilities are emphasized as important competencies in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. In this regard, this study attempts to examine how classes apply problem-based learning (PBL), a student-centered teaching method, affect the self-directed learning ability, problem-solving ability, and self-efficacy of college students. This study targeted 26 students who enrolled in PBL-applied ‘Consumer Decision Making’ classes at D university in Seoul, South Korea. Their self-directed learning abilities, problem-solving abilities, and self-efficacy were assessed before and after the PBL classes, so as to analyze the effectiveness of PBL classes. Furthermore, it analyzed their self-directed learning abilities, problem-solving abilities, and self-efficacy based on the students’ reflection logs. As a result, the PBL classes showed a statistically significant increase in students’ self-directed learning abilities, problem-solving abilities, and self-efficacy; verifying their the positive effectiveness. In addition, the reflection logs indicated that the students gained a sense of achievement in the actual problem-solving and application processes through the PBL classes, and acquired confidence by directly experiencing self-directed learning methods and the resultant effects. This result shows that PBL classes need to be operated systematically after being developed and applied into various fields in order to strengthen learners’ capacity building as required in these changing times.
