국문 초록

본 연구는 자폐스펙트럼장애(ASD) 아동을 대상으로 그림교환의사소통체계(PECS)를 중재한 국내외 단일대상연구를 메타분석하였다. 2010년에서 2020년까지의 국내외 연구를 검색하였으며, 국내 4편, 국외 16편이 선정되었다. 선정된 연구를 대상으로, 연구 대상자, 종속변인, 중재 환경, PECS 특성을 일반적인 동향과 비중복비율(PND)과 개선율차이(IRD)의 효과 크기, 질적지표로 국내외 연구를 비교, 분석하였다. 그 결과, 국내 연구는 국외 연구보다 현저히 적은 연구가 이뤄졌음을 확인하였다. 효과크기에서는 전체 효과크기가 국내 연구는 효과적인 또는 매우 큰 효과적인 중재였으나 국외 연구는 낮은 또는 중간크기의 효과적인 중재로 나타났다. 국내외 연구 모두 2~6세와 여자, PECS 습득에서 효과적인 중재임을 확인하였다. 국내 연구는 문제행동을 제외하고 대부분 중간 또는 효과적인 중재였으며, 국외 연구는 특수학급, PECS 1~3단계에서 효과적인 중재임을 확인하였다. 질적지표는 국내외 연구 대부분이 높거나 적절한 증거 지표를 보였으나 사회적 타당도와 중재충실도에서 불충분한 증거지표를 보였다. 따라서, PECS를 다양한 중재 변인과 장소, 중재자를 적용하여 ASD 아동이 PECS를 지속적으로 사용할 수 있도록 연구해야하며, 독립변인을 동등하게 측정하는 중재충실도와 사회적 타당도를 확인하여 사회적으로 의미가 있는 연구가 되어야 할 것이다.

영문 초록

This study conducted a meta-analysis of Korean and international single-subject studies that applied the Picture Exchange Communication System(PECS) for children with autism spectrum disorders(ASD). Research from 2010 to 2020 including four Korean articles and 16 international articles were selected. The research participants, effect size of PND and IRD, and quality of evidence were compared and analyzed on participants, dependent variable, settings, and PECS characteristics. Results indicated that Korean article confirmed that significantly fewer studies were conducted compared to international studies. Overall, Korean articles were moderately or very large effects, however, Internationl results had moderate or questionably effects. Additionally, both studies showed effective interventions for 2~6 years of age, females, and PECS acquisition. The Korean results revealed mostly effective interventions except for problem behavior. The International studies confirmed that the special classes and PECS first three phases showed the effective intervention. As for the quality of evidence, both studies exhibited a mostly strong or adequate quality of evidence. Nevertheless, the quality of evidence regarding the social validity and fidelity of independent variables were inadequate. Therefore, it is necessary to study PECS using various dependent variable, settings, and implementers for continued use. The study lends itself to the literature by confirming mediation fidelity that equally measures independent variables and social validity.
