미국 브릿지스쿨의 학생 맞춤형 보조공학 서비스 사례 연구

국문 초록

연구목적: 이 연구의 목적은 미국 브릿지스쿨의 중도중복장애학생을 위한 맞춤형 보조공학 서비스 사례를 분석하는 것이었다. 연구방법: 연구설계는 질적연구방법 중 복합사례연구방법을 적용하였다. 연구자료는 참여 관찰, 현장 문서자료, 특수교사, 언어재활사, 보조공학사와의 면담 자료를 통해 수집되었다. 사례 학생은 초등학급에 재학 중이며 복합의사소통장애를 가지고 있는 뇌성마비 학생 7명이었다. 연구결과: 첫째, 브릿지스쿨의 보조공학서비스는 IEP 회의를 통한 보조공학기기 구입, 교육과정 운영과 학교 일과 속에서 지속적이고 개방적으로 이루어지는 학생에 대한 보조공학기기 평가 및 적용, 교사와 부모에 대한 보조공학기기 교육, 개별 학생을 위한 맞춤형의 보조공학기기 변형 및 수리를 포함하는 보조공학기기 관리 및 지원이 서로 맞물려 끊임없이 이루어지는 과정이었다. 둘째, 브릿지스쿨에서 보조공학서비스는 교육과정 운영과 학교 일과 속에서 학생들이 적극적이고 주도적으로 참여하게 하는 데 중점을 두고 있었다. 보조공학서비스 제공의 영역은 학업활동에의 참여, 의사소통과 상호작용 증진, 적절한 착석과 자세 제공, 자기주도적 하지가동성의 증진 및 일상생활 활도에의 참여를 위한 것으로 분류되었으며 모두 학생 맞춤형으로 이루어지고 있었다. 결론: 본 연구의 결과는 한국에서 장애학생을 위한 보조공학 서비스 체제 개발에 많은 정보를 제공할 것이다.

영문 초록

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze the cases of customized Assistive technology(AT) service for students with severe and multiple disabilities at the Bridges School in the USA. Method: This study used a multiple case design of qualitative study to analyze the status of customized AT service at the Bridge School. The data were collected through participant observations, field documents and interviews with two AT professionals, a special education teacher, and a speech-language pathologist. The cases were included seven elementary school students with complex communication needs and cerebral palsy at the Bridge School. Results: First, AT service of the Bridge School was a continuous process through IEP meetings, AT equipment purchases, ongoing and open AT evalutions for student, parents and staff training and AT assurance including repair and customization for each student. Second, one AT service priority of the Bridge School was students’ active participation in curricular activities and classroom routines. The areas of AT service were participation on academic activities, promoting communication and interaction, providing appropriate seating and positioning, self-initiated mobility and access to activities of daily living. Conclusion: The results of this study will provide lots of information on the development of the AT service system for students with disabilities in Korea.
