고등 및 전공과 중도장애 학부모의 학교기반 진로·직업 자조모임 경험과 그 요구에 관한 질적 연구

국문 초록

연구목적: 이 연구는 특수학교 고등 및 전공과 진로·직업 자조모임에 참석한 중도장애 학부모들을 중심으로 자조모임 경험과 그 요구를 살펴봄으로써 자조모임의 실제를 이해하고, 나아가 이를 기초로 자조모임 실천에 관한 시사점을 얻기 위한 목적으로 수행되었다. 연구방법: 이를 위해 이 연구에서는 주제에 초점을 맞추어 연구참여자들의 경험과 이에 대한 해석 및 요구를 단기간에 심층적으로 이끌어낼 수 있는 포커스 그룹 인터뷰 방법을 사용하였다. 2018년 3~7월까지 ○○지역 소재 S 특수학교에서 중도장애 자녀들의 성인전환기 준비를 위해 학부모들이 자발적으로 모임을 구성·운영한 자조모임 참석자 총 14명 중 6명을 대상으로 2개의 포커스 그룹을 구성하여 인터뷰가 진행되었고, 객관적인 분석을 위해 연구팀과 감수팀이 자료분석에 참여하였다. 연구결과 및 결론: 그 결과 ‘주제 1) 문제로 인식되는 성인전환기-가중되는 양육의 무게, 열악한 성인전환기 환경, 전환의 과제’, ‘주제 2) 학부모 자조모임의 과정과 결과-참여 동기, 참여의 어려움, 자조모임의 의미: 임파워먼트, 학부모의 태도변화’, ‘주제 3) 향후 자조모임 과제와 시사점-학교기반 진로·직업 학부모 자조모임의 필요성, 명확한 모임목적과 운영방식’이라는 3개의 주제와 9개의 범주, 24개의 하위범주가 도출되었다. 이러한 연구결과는 중도장애 학생의 성인전환기 어려움과 지원에 관한 사항들을 이해하고 학교를 기반으로 한 학부모 자조모임의 필요와 구체적인 실천방안에 관한 기반자료 및 후속연구로 활용될 것이다.

영문 초록

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to draw implications and understand the realities of the career and vocation self-help group meetings for parents who have high school and college children with severe disabilities by examining their experiences and needs. Method: For this purpose, this study used the focus group interview method which allows in-depth understanding of the needs and experiences of the research participants within a short period of time. From March to July in 2018, two focus groups were composed and interviews were conducted with 6 out of 14 parents who voluntarily organized and participated in self-help groups at S Special-Education School to prepare for adulthood transition of their children with severe disabilities. For objective analysis, the research team and the supervisor team participated in the data analysis. Results and Conclusion: As a result of the study, 3 themes, 9 categories, and 24 subcategories were derived. The themes and categories are 1) Adult transition period that is recognized as a problem—Aggravation of parenting, Challenges of transition, Poor environment for adult transition, 2) Process and results of the parent self-help groups—Motive for participation, Difficulty of participation, Meaning of self-help group: Empowerment, Change in parent’s attitude, and 3) Tasks for self-help group hereafter and implications—Need for school-based career and vocational parental self-help groups, Clear purpose of the meeting and operation method. These results will be used as background data to understand the difficulties and needs that students with severe disabilities have in transition to adulthood and to develop specific action plans for parental self-help groups in further studies.
