국문 초록

연구목적: 본 연구는 장애인과 함께 성장한 성인 비장애 형제자매가 인식하는 그들 사이의 형제관계를 살펴보고, 그 관계가 그들의 현재 삶과 미래계획에 어떤 의미를 부여하는지를 탐색하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 연구방법: 비장애 형제자매 10명을 대상으로 개별 심층면담을 활용한 질적 연구를 수행하였으며, 심층면담을 통해 얻은 자료들은 해석현상학적 분석을 사용하여 분석되었다. 연구결과: 본 연구의 결과 3개의 주요 범주와 7개의 하위범주가 도출되었다: (1) 특별하지만 다르지 않은 형제, (2) 소소함으로 두터워지는 형제애, (3) 나의 일과 장애형제 (4) 새로운 가족과 장애형제 (5) 장애형제에 대한 지원, (6) 다른 비장애 형제자매와의 교류 (7) 사회인식 개선. 결론: 연구결과를 바탕으로 성인 비장애 형제자매를 지원하기 위한 시사점이 제시되었으며, 이와 함께 후속연구를 위한 제언이 논의되었다. 본 연구를 통한 성인 비장애 형제자매의 삶과 경험에 대한 심도 깊은 이해는 앞으로 그들을 위한 지원서비스 및 정책을 수립하는데 있어 중요한 기초자료를 제공할 것으로 사료된다.

영문 초록

Purpose: The present study aimed to describe the sibling relationship perceived by adult siblings growing up with a brother or sister with disabilities and to explore its meanings in their lives. Method: In-depth interviews were conducted to elicit the experiences and perceptions of 10 adult siblings of individuals with disabilities. Interpretative phenomenological analysis was used for the analysis of the transcribed texts. Results: The data analysis of siblings’ experiences yielded 3 clusters and 7 sub-clusters: (1) special but not different siblings, (2) thickening siblinghood through small things, (3) my career and sibling with disability, (4) my new family and sibling with disability, (5) supporting sibling with disability, (6) meeting with other siblings, (7) changing social attitudes. Conclusion: Implications for support services and research were discussed. A better understanding of adult siblings of individuals with disabilities seems to provide essential information to the development of support services and policies.
