심리상담사의 신변 안전 위협과 어려움의 대처 과정에 대한 질적연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 심리상담사의 신변 안전 위협 경험의 대처 과정에 대해 근거 이론 연구방법을 활용하여 실체 이론을 개발하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 심리상담사로서 다양한 상담 환경에서 신변 위협을 경험한 상담자 16명을 선정하여 심층면담을 실시하였다. 연구 결과, 개방 코딩에서 111개의 개념과 38개의 하위 범주 및 19개의 범주가 도출되었다. 핵심 범주는 ‘상담자로서 손상되는 위기를 겪으면서 그 역할 안에서 자신과 내담자를 보호하는 길을 찾아나감‘으로 도출되었다. 참여자들은 내담자로 인한 직·간접적 신변 위협을 겪으면서 자신의 개인적, 전문적 존재감 및 지위가 손상되는 경험을 하였다. 그러나 그들은 상담사라는 전문가로서의 경계와 역할을 인식하며 신변 위협에 분별적으로 대처하고 이러한 과정의 의미를 재구성할 수 있었다. 또한 심리상담사들은 ‘충격 및 손상 단계’, ‘해결책 모색 단계’, ‘위축 또는 확장 단계’의 대처 과정을 경험한 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 심리상담사의 신변 안전 위협 경험의 대처 과정에 대한 실체 이론을 개발하여 후속 연구를 위한 기초 자료를 제공했다는 점에 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

This study aims to develop a substantive theory by utilizing evidence theory research methods for the process of counselling psychotherapists coping with personal safety threat experiences. To this end, 16 counselors who reported threat experiences in various counseling environments as counselling psychotherapists were selected and participated inin-depth interviews. Through conceptualization and categorization of interview data through open coding process, 111 concepts, 38 subcategories, and 19 higher categories were derived. Key categories are ’Being hurt by the crisis as a counsellor, go and look for a way to protect himself and his clients. Due to direct and indirect threat from their clients, participants experienced damage to his personal and professional presence and location, a threat to his own safety. However, they recognized the boundaries and roles as a professional in counselling and discretely responded to threats to redefine meaning from the process. The study found that psychotherapists experienced impact and damage phases , steps to search for solutions and stage of contraction and expansion in coping process . The study is meaningful as it provided basic data for following researches by developing a substantive theory on the process of the counsellors coping with the treat to their safety.
