문화산업관점에서의 템플스테이 연구동향 분석과 향후 발전방안

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 최근 증가세가 둔화되고 있는 템플스테이의 현황과 과거 연구의 동 향분석을 통하여 향후 템플스테이 프로그램의 활성화 방안과 체계적 정립을 위한 고찰, 아울러 미래연구 방향의 토대를 마련하는 것이다. 본 연구는 2002년부터 2018년까지 17 년간 국내에서 발행된 등재후보이상 학술지 논문들 중 템플스테이를 주제로 한 연구논문 54편을 선별하였다. 선별된 연구논문들을 시기, 주제, 방법, 분야, 조사요인, 연구의 한 계점 및 향후 연구 등으로 나누어 지금까지의 연구동향과 연구내용을 정리, 분석하였다. 분석결과, 템플스테이 관련 연구는 한국불교문화사업단 창단 이후 본격적으로 템플 스테이 사업이 양적으로 증가되었던 2004년부터 2015년까지 매우 활발한 연구가 진행 되었다. 하지만 2016년부터 ‘전환기’에 접어들면서 관련 연구는 급격히 감소하고 있는 추세이다. 연구주제별로 살펴보면, 템플스테이 만족도 및 행동의도에 관한 주제가 20 편으로 비교적 높은 비중(37%)을 차지했으며, 선택속성 및 체험내용, 심신치유효과 등 의 연구들이 이루어져 왔다. 연구 방법측면에서는, 양적연구 35편(65%), 질적연구 16 편(30%), 혼합연구 3편(5%)으로 대다수의 연구가 양적연구에 치중되어 왔다. 학문분야별로 살펴보면, 총 14개의 다양한 학문분야에서 발표되었고, 그 중에서 관 광학 분야에서 가장 많은 22편(41%)의 연구논문이 게재되었다. 뒤를 이어 불교학 분야 에서 11편(21%)의 연구논문이 게재되었다. 조사요인별 동향을 살펴보면, ‘체험요인’은 166회, ‘운영요인’은 49회로 나타났다. 마지막으로, 연구 한계점과 향후 연구방향을 분 석해보면, 조사방법의 한계에 대한 언급이 33회(49%)로 가장 많았고, 그 다음은 다양 한 인구통계학, 라이프스타일, 사찰별 특성 등을 고려한 템플스테이의 활성화 방안 제 안이 35회(59%)언급되었다. 본 연구는 템플스테이 시행 17년 만에 관련 연구의 동향을 살펴보고 향후 연구 분야 를 모색하는 토대를 마련했다는데 학술적 의의를 가진다. 마지막에는 템플스테이 프로 그램의 개발과 활성화 방안의 제언, 그리고 문화산업으로서의 경제적 효용성 증대를 위한 관련 연구의 필요성을 제언하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to provide a basis for the future research direction as well as a review for the activation plan and the systematic establishment of the Templestay program in the future through the contents analysis of the past research. This study selected 54 research papers from the journals published in Korea for 17 years from 2002 to 2018. The selected research papers are divided by period, theme, method, field, research factor, limit of research and future study. As a result of the analysis, the research about Templestay was very active from 2004 to 2015, when the Templestay business was increased in earnest after the establishment of the Cultural Corps of Korean Buddhism. However, as the transition period began in 2016, related research is also rapidly declining. According to the research themes, there were 20 topics (37%) on the subject of satisfaction with the Templestay and behavioral intention, and the selection attributes, experience contents, and psychosomatic healing effects have been studied. In terms of methodology, 35 studies (65%) were quantitative researches. Following this, 16 (30%) qualitative researches and 3 mixed researches (5%) were published. By field of study, various papers were published in the 14 diverse academic disciplines. Among of all, the most papers (22, 41%) were published in the field of tourism. Following this, 11 papers (21%) were published in the field of Buddhism. In terms of research factors, experience factor mentioned 166 times and operating factor mentioned 49 times. Finally, limitations of the study method and limitations on the survey method mentioned 33 times (49%), and the activation of Templestay considering various demographics, lifestyle, were mentioned 35 times (59%). This study has the academic significance that the research trends has investigated and the basis for the future research fields has been established. Finally, the suggestion of the development and activation plan of the Templestay program and the necessity of the related study for increasing the economic efficiency as cultural industry were suggested.
