안상홍의 요한계시록 해석 비판

국문 초록

안상홍 증인회는 전 세계에 걸쳐 많게는 약 300만 명, 적게는 12만 명으로 추산된다. 안상홍 증인회의 교세는 안식교를 넘어설 뿐 아니라, 최근에는 신천지 예수교 증거장막 성전보다 기성 교회에 더 큰 영향을 미치는 것으로 보이므로 각별한 주의가 요청된다. 많은 이단의 교주들처럼 안상홍도 요한계시록을 매우 애용하면서 오용했다. 그런데 아직까지 안상홍의 요한계시록 해석에 대한 학술적 비평은 찾아보기 어렵다. 이런 미진한 연구의 현황을 염두에 두고, 이 글은 먼저 안상홍의 계시록 해석을 소개하고 분석한다. 그리고 그가 몸담았던 안식교의 계시록 해석을 소개하고 안상홍의 해석과 비교한다. 마지막으로 안상홍의 계시록 해석을 교부, 종교개혁자들, 세대주의와 비교하면서 비평한다. 본 연구를 통해 한국 교회가 요한계시록을 오용하는 이단을 예방하고 대처하는데 유익을 얻기를 기대한다.

영문 초록

The Ahn Sahnghong Witness Association (World Mission Society Church of God; WMSCG) is estimated to be around 3 million people and at least 120,000 worldwide. The number of WMSCG’s membership is more than that of the Seventh-Day Adventists (SDA). Currently, WMSCG’s influence toward Korean churches seems to be stronger than Shinchoenji. Thus attention by the orthodox churches must be paid to ASWA. Like many heresies, Sahnghong Ahn misused the book of Revelation very much. However, it is difficult to find any scholarly criticism of Sahnghong Ahn’s interpretation of the book of Revelation. With this research gap in mind, this article firstly introduces and analyzes Sahnghong Ahn’s interpretation of the book of Revelation, followed by an analysis of the book of Revelation of SDA in which he was involved about 15 years. Then, after comparing two interpretations of Sahnghong Ahn and SDA, the present researcher concludes this paper by criticizing Ahn’s interpretation of the book of Revelation by comparing it with the interpretations of the church fathers, the reformers, and dispensationalists. This study may help Korean churches to prevent and cope with the heresies pondering to utilize the book of Revelation.
