키에르케고르, 과연 ‘반-헤겔주의’인가?

국문 초록

현대 유럽 사상사를 이해할 때 실존주의를 배제하는 것은 불가능하며, 실존주의를 이해할 때 키에르케고르를 배제하는 것은 불가능하다. 다시 말해, 현대 유럽 사상사에서 키에르케고르는 몹시 중요한 인물이다. 그런데 키에르케고르에 대한 보편적인 이해는 어떻게 이루어져 왔는가? 그에 대한 이미지는 ‘반-헤겔 주의자’로서 형성되어 왔다. 그러나 키에르케고르는 과연 ‘반-헤겔’인가? 그의 사유와 헤겔의 사유가 상반되는 면이 많지만, 덴마크에 수용된 헤겔 철학이 ‘헤겔그 자신의 것’과 다름이 없었는지에 대해서는 확답하기 어렵다. 실제로 헤겔 철학이 덴마크로 수용된 것은 키에르케고르 생후의 일이었으며, 헤겔 철학을 중심으로 덴마크 내부에서 발생한 논쟁들은 덴마크의 대표적인 헤겔주의자인 하이베르와 마르텐센에 의해서였다. 키에르케고르의 헤겔에 대한 반발은 하이베르와 마르텐센, 그리고 헤겔 철학으로 정당화된 덴마크 국가 교회의 영향 때문이었다. 따라서 키에르케고르가 적대시한 헤겔 철학이 덴마크에서 왜곡된 것이라면, 키에르케고르를 ‘반-헤겔주의자’로 이해할 때, 그리고 ‘헤겔의 적으로서’ 키에르케고르를 이해할 때 오독의 여지가 발생하게 된다. 본 고는 키에르케고르를 ‘반-헤겔주의’의 경향으로 이해해도 좋은지를 덴마크의 헤겔 수용 역사를 중심으로 살펴볼 것이며, 나아가 키에르케고르의 철학을 수용한 하이데거와의 실존 개념 비교를 통해 현대 유럽 철학의 다면적 이해를 돕고자 한다.

영문 초록

It is impossible to exclude existentialism when understanding modern European thought history, and it is impossible to exclude Kierkegaard when understanding existentialism. In other words, in modern European thought history, Kierkegaard is a very important figure. But how has the universal understanding of Kierkegaard been achieved? His image has been shaped as an anti-hegelian . But is Kierkegaard really a anti-hegel? Although his ideas and Hegel s ideas are often contradictory, it is hard to confirm whether the Hegel philosophy accepted in Denmark was no different from ‘Hegel s own.’ In fact, it was after the birth of Kierkegaard that the Hegelian philosophy was accepted in Denmark, and the debates that arose inside Denmark, centered on the Hegel philosophy, were by the leading Hegelians of Denmark, Heiber and Martensen. Kierkegaard s opposition to Hegel was due to the influence of the Danish National Church, which was justified by Heiber, Martensen and Hegel philosophy. Thus, if Kierkegaard s hostile to Hegelian philosophy was a distortion in Denmark, it would be misleading to understand Kierkegaard as an ‘anti-hegelian’ and Kierkegaard as an ‘enemy of Hegel’. This paper will focus on the history of the acceptance of Hegel in Denmark to see if Kierkegaard can be understood as a ‘anti-hegelianism’ trend, and further to help understand modern European philosophy by comparing the concept of ‘existence’ with Heidegger, who embraced Kierkegaard s philosophy.
